How to Get Sturgeon in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Players are able to catch Sturgeon in New Horizons between September and March, so it’s available for seven months of the year. It is active at all times of the day, but the reason why it’s so difficult to get is due to the fact that it is a rare spawn, and it only appears at the mouth of the river.

Once players have landed on the island, they need to check if it has a river. If not, they need to go back to their mainland and try again. To farm Sturgeon, players need to use the pole to jump the river or sprint near the riverbank, scaring all the fish that spawn on it. Fish will continue to spawn as certain areas of the river go off-screen. After scaring all the fish, they must check the mouth of the river to see what has spawned there.
