How to Get Rainbow Feathers in Pokopia
Rainbow Feathers are a hard item to come by in Pokemon Pokopia, as you need Ho-oh to appear overhead to trigger a Rainbow Feather drop. There’s no way to summon Ho-oh, just a way to up your chances of seeing the Gen 2 Legendary, so it can take quite some time before you amass enough Rainbow Feathers to craft the Clear Bell, or hand the feathers over to Gimmighoul.
To help you get Rainbow Feathers faster in Pokemon Pokopia, this guide also explains how to increase the chances of Ho-oh appearing. Plus, we detail exactly how to use Rainbow Feathers when you do find them.

How to Get Rainbow Feathers in Pokopia
Rainbow Feathers are dropped from Ho-oh in Pokopia, with Ho-oh appearing rarely in the skies above. But even if you up your chances of making Ho-oh appear, you aren’t guaranteed to get a Rainbow Feather — you might get a Silver Feather from Lugia instead. You’ll know Ho-oh has dropped a Rainbow Feather, as you have to put out the fire surrounding the feather with the Water Gun ability in Pokopia. If it was Lugia that dropped a Silver Feather, you’d have to Cut the tornado that appeared around it instead.
How to Increase Chances of Ho-oh Appearing
Ho-oh dropping feathers is a very rare occurrence in Pokopia, but you can increase the chances of Ho-oh appearing by offering food with the “Dry” flavor to Mosslax. There’s still a chance Lugia could fly overhead instead of Ho-oh, but you’ll have a far easier time collecting Rainbow Feathers by taking advantage of Mosslax’s ability, instead of just crossing your fingers and hoping they appear. For perspective, after playing Pokopia for around 30 hours without Mosslax’s ability, we only found one Silver Feather in all that time, and zero Rainbow Feathers.
You can only feed Mosslax once per real-time day, so make sure you offer Mosslax a cooked meal with the “Dry” taste to up your chances of getting Ho-oh to appear. Mushroom hamburger steak, mushroom soup, and crushed-berry salads are all cooked meals with the “Dry” taste.
To unlock the ability to offer Mosslax food once per day, you have to complete the main Bleak Beach storyline by waking Mosslax up at the end of the “Brighten Things Up” Important Request. It’s a lengthy quest, so if you want those Rainbow Feathers ASAP, we recommend coming to Bleak Beach before setting off to the Rocky Ridges area, after you get Onix in the Withered Wastelands.
What Are Rainbow Feathers Used For in Pokopia?
Rainbow Feathers are used for three main things in Pokopia:
- Crafting the Clear Bell
- Trading with Gimmighoul
- Completing requests and challenges
You only need to collect one Rainbow or Silver Feather to complete the “Gather mysterious feathers!” daily challenge in Pokopia — no need to actually use it on anything.
We recommend holding on to your Rainbow Feathers until you craft the Clear Bell, as you need five Rainbow Feathers and five Rare Pokemetal to make it, and the Clear Bell helps you add Ho-oh to your Pokedex when you use it after spotting Ho-oh flying above.
However, if you’re more interested in items than filling your Pokedex, then you might want to use your Rainbow Feathers to trade with Gimmighoul first. Gimmighoul is located in the northwestern mines of the Rocky Ridges area, and once you hand over one Rainbow Feather, you can then give Gimmighoul more (plus Silver Feathers and appraised Lost Relics) to unlock random furniture items.
