Dynasties

Since royalty is the main focus of the upcoming EP, it is likely that royal family trees will be organized by dynasties. While dynasties may not seem like a major part of the pack, they are the foundation and the essence of Royalty and Legacy, so they will greatly influence many gameplay aspects that we will see once the pack becomes available, such as prestige, how children are brought up, and much more.

Drama is bound to spark within dynasties, as heirs are chosen based on their relationship with the king or queen, their age, and how many siblings they have, and this could lead to untimely deaths and who knows what else.

Values and Unity

Values will play a major part in each dynasty. From the trailer, it appears as if each dynasty will have its traditions and values.

It is likely that each member of the dynasty will be judged based on how they honor or dishonor the family values. Swordfighting Skill

As we can see from the trailer, acing swordsmanship greatly increases prestige, and it is likely that this will be related to a swordfighting skill.

Royal Scandals

In the trailer, we are shown a Sim who is a noble through marriage. However, they have an affair with another Sim, and the housemaid witnesses it. Even though she begs the maid not to say a word, she spreads this around the entire kingdom, creating a scandal. This puts the royal in a bad position, leading to a heartbreaking divorce between the dynasties’ rulers.

It is unknown if the scandal mechanic is exclusive to royal Sims or if it will be added to other neighborhoods and Sims 4 worlds. There are some similarities to the snooping mechanic added to The Sims 4 with the For Rent expansion, where Sims could blackmail others when they uncovered dark secrets, so it is possible that it could be restricted to noble families to prevent overlap.

Prestige

Just like unity, prestige can increase and decrease based on a Sim’s lifestyle as well as the activities and hobbies that they choose to take part in.

Problematic and rude behavior will cause a Sim’s prestige to go down, which will probably lead to other Sims losing respect for the Sim in question. There are traits and activities that are considered highly prestigious and therefore increase the Sim’s prestige ranking, such as being artistic and a good swordfighter.

Frog Prince

In one of the fast-moving shots in the trailer, players can see a Sim kissing a frog with a crown. This is based on popular fairy tales where a princess must kiss a frog to break a curse and turn him into a handsome prince.

Even with all of its possibilities, fans may find themselves out of ideas for a new story in The Sims 4 – these storylines will help liven things up.

It is unknown if this is just a comedic part of the trailer or if this will actually be part of The Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy. Many DLCs have included thematic quests that players must complete in order to receive rewards, and this could be one of those cases.

It is also possible that the Frog Prince could be a Sims 4 scenario added for players who own the EP, as it would be fun to play a save file where a princess must deal with a recently transformed prince and find a way to turn him back into a human. Alternatively, he could also be a special NPC that players must find, get to know, and eventually romance.
