Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon Croakmaw Locations
Croakmaws are a type of monster in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. They’re fairly rare compared to most other overworld enemy types, and while they aren’t particularly hard to hunt down, Croakmaws are still quite dangerous, especially in the game’s higher-level zones. The good thing about Croakmaws is that they yield decent chunks of XP, making them perfect for quickly leveling up characters. If you’re interested in power-leveling early in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, here’s where you can find some Croakmaws to farm.
Best Early Mage Build in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Here’s a pure mage build for players who want to sling spells and rain down hellfire on their enemies in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon.
Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon Croakmaw Spawns
Like the majority of monsters in the game, Croakmaws have set spawn points, and you will almost always find one when you visit these areas. These monsters are a little tough to take down, especially early on when you’re still underleveled and undergeared, but if you know what to do, you can start farming Croakmaws without dying.
Horns of the South — Behind the Tomb of the Good Druid
There’s a Croakmaw that spawns in a small clearing surrounded by trees north of the Horns of the South Keep. From the Ancient Cromlech fast travel point, head to the Tomb of the Good Druid to the southwest, then go to the big area behind it. You should see the Croakmaw sitting in the open.
Cuanacht — Below the Bridge
When you first enter Cuanacht through the North Gate near the All-Mother’s Temple in the Horns of the South, you’ll come across a wooden bridge built over a ravine. Cross that bridge, then go to the riverbed. There’s a sleeping Croakmaw in the abandoned camp.
Cuanacht — Swamp
There’s a swamp to the west of Cuanacht, and you can find another sleeping Croakmaw resting in a shallow puddle. You can find it by opening your map and looking for a giant skeleton. The Croakmaw is due north of the skeleton’s tail tip, and just west of it is a Croakmaw shrine.
What are Croakmaws For?
As mentioned earlier, Croakmaws reward players with plenty of XP when defeated. These monsters have wide, sweeping attacks as well as ranged attacks, so you’ll need to be careful when fighting one.
Croakmaws will respawn after 24–48 in-game hours. You can easily farm one of them by placing a bonfire near their spawn point and resting (without using Ethereal Cobwebs). Rest until 22:00 in-game, and you should get interrupted by a message saying that you’re being ambushed. The nearby Croakmaw should have respawned by then.
Apart from XP farming, there are Shrines of Croakmaw in different areas of the game, and if you offer Croakmaw parts to them, you’ll gain different blessings per shrine. For example, the shrine near the Croakmaw in the Cuanacht Swamp will give you bonus critical hit damage if you offer a Croakmaw Horn to it.
Should You Pet Sleeping Croakmaws in Tainted Grail The Fall of Avalon?
You’ll get an achievement if you pet one of the sleeping Croakmaws in Cuanacht, but there’s one small issue: Croakmaws are not friendly, and if you wake one up, it’ll bite your arm clean off. Naturally, this means you won’t be able to wield two-handed weapons or use an off-hand item like a shield due to your distinct lack of limb, and no, your arm will not regenerate, nor will you find a replacement for it.
