ZZZ 2.5 Co-Op Multiplayer Guide (Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze Event)
Co-op in a live-service game like Zenless Zone Zero is a common request from players as it encourages them to play with friends, increasing their playtime. However, since ZZZ mechanics are primarily designed for single-player, creating a co-op in ZZZ will require the developer to rework certain mechanics to feel fluid in multiplayer.
Although it’s not yet full co-op gameplay, players can experience co-op multiplayer in ZZZ 2.5. Here’s how.
Zhao Best Build In Zenless Zone Zero
Zhao is a great support in Zenless Zone Zero, but her build isn’t the most obvious to figure out.
How To Play Co-Op Multiplayer In ZZZ – Zenless Zone Zero 2.5
To play co-op multiplayer in Zenless Zone Zero 2.5, players must participate in the Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze event. This gameplay mode is new and is meant to work as a trial for future co-op development. Therefore, Proxies who are looking forward to playing co-op in ZZZ should participate in the event to provide feedback to the developer.
In the future, players can expect a more in-depth co-op multiplayer system in ZZZ, but for version 2.5, playing with other players can only be done in the Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze event.
Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze Event (ZZZ 2.5 Co-Op Multiplayer)
Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze event in Zenless Zone Zero starts from January 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM until January 22, 2026, at 03:59 AM (server time).
Due to different server times between the America, Europe, and Asia servers, players can expect to get the event at different times, where Asia-server Proxies will get to enjoy the ZZZ co-op before the Europe-server and America-server players, with American Proxies being the last to get the event. Consequently, the ZZZ multiplayer event will end earlier on the Asia server, followed by the Europe server, then the America server.
Like the normal team in ZZZ, the co-op event will run once three players enter the Joint Investigation. For the ZZZ 2.5 multiplayer event, each player can choose one Agent from nine available characters.
So Proxies won’t be playing three characters, and instead will act as one of the Agents in the three-character team. Naturally, this calls for changes in the mechanics, like the Chain Attack, which typically triggers when an enemy is Stunned, and players get to choose which character to use Chain Attack with. In the ZZZ 2.5 co-op game, the team can trigger their Chain Attack together through the Chain Overdrive system.
Chain Overdrive has new triggers, such as:
If a teammate falls in battle, they can be revived by approaching them, which will create a “healing link.” Additionally, a special item that’s shared between the party will also be available for a faster revive time. If no revival occurs, the downed teammate will enter spectator mode and must rely on their team to complete the challenge.
Basically, the ZZZ co-op game is aimed at testing the player’s teamwork and communication, where it’s important to work in sync and pay attention to each other.
