Dead by Daylight is Losing Its Halloween Chapter

By newsgame

Dead by Daylight‘s Michael Myers-based Halloween content will be leaving the game soon, taking the slasher movie legend with it as he prepares to take a starring role in a game of his own. Michael Myers has been a big part of many players’ Dead by Daylight experience for nearly a full decade, but with Illfonic’s Halloween projected for release in fall 2026, the time is fast approaching for him to leave The Fog, taking the Halloween Chapter with him.

Since shortly after the game’s initial launch in June 2016, Dead by Daylight‘s crossover content with other horror franchises has kept fans invested, bringing in familiar monsters and heroes from across the realms of movies, live-action television, and even anime. Halloween was the very first major horror film franchise to strike a deal with Dead by Daylight, and players who want to keep access to Michael Myers and company will need to act quickly to keep them in the game.

Halloween: The Game Confirms Release Date, But There’s a Catch

Michael Myers returns in Halloween: The Game, but there is some disappointing news for players expecting to dive into it this October.

Michael Myers is Officially Leaving Dead by Daylight

Michael Myers was added to Dead by Daylight‘s cast of Killers in October 2016 through a DLC pack that also included a special map of Haddonfield and a Survivor, Laurie Strode, based on the Jamie Lee Curtis character from the movie franchise. Now, it has been confirmed that the entirety of the Halloween Chapter’s content will be leaving Dead by Daylight‘s shop on January 19th, 2026, at 11 a.m. EST.

Players who already own Michael Myers (aka The Shape) or Laurie will still be able to use them in the game, along with any of the related cosmetics they have previously purchased, meaning players will have to act fast if they haven’t already bought access to the special crossover content from one of the best slasher movie franchises of all time. Content that won’t be accessible anymore includes the Haddonfield map and the Strode Realty Key in the Bloodweb. Fortunately for fans who are late to pick up the Halloween content, Dead by Daylight will be offering the Killer, Survivor, and all cosmetic items related to them at a 50 percent discount, with the sale set to run up until January 19, 2026. Additionally, while the previously purchased characters will still be available for use, the names of their perks will be undergoing a change, although their effects and descriptions will stay the same.

Although Michael Myers will soon no longer be available for purchase in the game, there is still plenty of crossover content available from other horror franchises. A second Stranger Things Dead by Daylight crossover has been announced for January, which should help keep the Netflix series alive in fans’ hearts after its series finale drops on New Year’s Eve. The first pack, which brought Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, and the Demogorgon to the game, was first introduced in 2019 and brought back in 2023, and it is still available today. Details about the second expansion’s content have not yet been made official, but a teaser trailer makes it look as though a version of Vecna distinct from the one in the Dungeons & Dragons crossover will be the game’s next Killer, and there is heavy speculation in the fan community that Jim Hopper and Joyce Byers will be added as Survivors.

Meanwhile, Michael Myers’ journey through the video game realm seems to be progressing nicely at Illfonic, as its Halloween game recently revealed its first map, Haddonfield Heights. While Dead by Daylight‘s Haddonfield is leaving soon, fans of the fictional Illinois town where most of the Halloween movies take place will be able to revisit its residential neighborhoods, which promise plenty of dark corners for potential ambushes. Illfonic’s Halloween is currently scheduled for release on September 8, 2026, arriving in plenty of time for the holiday of the same name and leaving fans without a Haddonfield to call their own for only about eight months.
