How to Complete Lockdowns in Marathon
Lockdowns are late-game events in Dire Marsh that require you to have an Anti-Virus Pack in Marathon. The Anti-Virus Pack is essential for Lockdowns, as without one, you will slowly (but surely) die of toxic damage.
Anti-Virus Packs and Lockdowns are entwined, and they’re an essential event that you want to come prepared for due to their incredible loot potential. Below, you’ll discover everything we know about Lockdowns and the Anti-Virus Packs that you’ll need.

How to Get & Use Anti-Virus Packs
Anti-Virus Packs can be purchased from the MIDA Faction’s Upgrades tab at Rank 5 for 1,500 Credits and x23 Unstable Lead. Once the Upgrade is purchased, head to MIDA’s section of the Armory to purchase Anti-Virus Packs.
Alternatively, you often find Anti-Virus Packs across various loot sources, but not tied to a single map or POI. This means that if you don’t have the MIDA Faction Upgrade, you’re going to have to rely on RNG.
Anti-Virus Packs provide a “buffer against hostile data corruption“, and give you a yellow bar above your health on the HUD. This is tied exclusively to the Lockdown event in Dire Marsh, and we’ll explain more below.
What Are Lockdowns (& How to Complete Them) in Marathon
- Lockdowns are exclusive to Dire Marsh.
- After around 10 minutes in a match, a “Lockdown” event has a chance to begin.
- The Lockdown states the POI, but it can also be viewed on the map by looking for the POI with a square around it.
- You can only enter Lockdowns with an Anti-Virus Pack, which is used as a consumable.
- You need to look around the area for a Lockdown Drive and insert it into a blue terminal.
- Enemies will begin to spawn, and when you kill them all, loot is revealed from the blue terminal.
- Another Lockdown Drive is obtained from the blue terminal, and you can use this on the next Lockdown event that will spawn in another 5 minutes.
- This can be repeated once more for the best tier loot.
The Lockdown Event can occur at random after around 10 minutes only on Dire Marsh. You will need Anti-Virus Packs to enter the Lockdown, and it involves finding a Lockdown Drive, interacting with a terminal, and killing a wave of enemies.
After the Lockdown, you can get sweet loot from the terminal, and you can then use that loot to start another Lockdown, which has harder enemies but also better loot. We recommend bringing plenty of healing items, ammunition, and Anti-Virus Packs, as you’ll be fighting UESC (and maybe some Runners).
