High on Life 2 Dr. Gurgula Will Return Hidden Transmissions Guide

By newsgame

If you’re looking for help in unlocking the achievement ‘Dr. Gurgula Will Return’ in High on Life 2, you’re in the right place. You need to find three of Dr. Gurgula’s Hidden Transmissions in the game to get the award, but two of them are missable as they are found in main mission locations that you cannot return to in the same playthrough. With that in mind, here’s how to find all three audio collectibles.

Dr. Gurgula is a returning character, whose hideout functions as the original High on Life’s secret ending location. This parody of Count Dracula appears again in the sequel, but this time has nothing to do with the multiple possible High on Life 2 endings.

This time, he has left three secret messages, two of which are missable and found in two different bounty missions, with the other available in a secret area in Circuit Arcadia, Downtown.

Transmission One: Rescue Your Dad From the Cult

Your journey to rescuing your father from a cult in Wyoming starts after you’ve completed your first two major bounties: Senator Muppy Doo and Billionaire Larry Pinkstock. From there, your next two choices are Finance Wiz James Stevenson and to have dinner with your mom. Choosing the latter puts you on a path to the western United States.

The first transmission can be found after you’ve rescued your dad from the Ego Chamber and headed back to the cult’s main building. The area you’re interested in is the room in which you fight the Big Mutant mini-boss: when it’s down, and you’re prompted to find your dad’s best friend Ted, do not head out through the broken window.

If you’re an achievement hunter, make sure you do not miss the two story-based transmissions. You cannot manually save in High on Life 2, and you can’t just reload an earlier save unless you have decent progress in your other two save slots. If you have missed them, it’s recommended to switch to the game’s easiest Story Mode setting to get through it as quickly as possible.

Your objective is found to the back-right of the room in which you fought the mutant, on a higher level, as you’re facing the broken window. To get to it, climb up to the platform in the middle of the room and then turn to the corner of the room on your right and jump and dash to bridge the gap to a hole in the wall. The first transmission is through this hole once you jump down: interact with it and the message will play to get you started with this achievement.

Transmission Two: Kill Scientist Professor Berkel

This second missable transmission is available during the Professor Jane Berkel bounty. This is the point at which you have the choice between targeting Movie Star Buckin Bronko and Berkel, after you’ve rescued your dad from the cult and defeated Billionaire James Stevenson. Once you’ve investigated the far side of Pinkline Harbor to access the additional area to the beach-side hub world, you’ll be where you need to be for this second secret message.

Before you enter the giant blue beast and help the scientist inside to maintain your cover, head past the lead scientist and stop when the monster is to your left — you should see a black and orange wire on the ground heading into a tent to your right. Interact with the generator to which this wire is attached, and it will turn from partly-orange to partly-green. Follow it back out the entrance of the tent to another one which contains the second Hidden Transmission.

Transmission Three: Circuit Arcadia, Downtown

This final Dr. Gurgula collectible can be found as soon as you’ve unlocked Jan, and it’s even available after you’ve completed the main story. Start your search by heading to the north side of the Downtown Circuit Arcadia map, to the west of the comedy club.

At the top of a tall metal staircase, look to the left corner where you should see a machine with the green Slime Drive logo on it, just as you did to start the different way up to James Stevenson’s penthouse objective. Use Travis’s levitating Trick Shot ability to start lifting the machine, and then shoot it with Jan’s bullets to make it go higher and fully reveal the secret gap behind it.

The puzzle inside is the most complicated in the game, and it consists of three parts. The first section starts when you head down the hallway when you enter and turn right into a larger, more open, space. Look down, and you’ll see an object floating in the center.

Below that, at the very bottom, is a Luglox — levitate it with Travis’ Trick Shot and shoot it out the lowest level onto the second-lowest level. Once that’s done, put the Luglox on the platform on the yellow flooring to complete the first section of the puzzle.

Just like in the first section, again you need to lift the Luglox from where it sits on the lowest level of the room. However, this time, it needs to be lifted to this room’s highest level, which you can only do in stages. Head around the recessed level so you’re facing the door into which you entered, and then lift and shoot the Luglox out and onto a white crate next to an orange-smeared platform.

Next, you need to use the Travis and Jan Trick Shot combo to lift the Luglox onto the orange-smeared platform, then use Glob Shot and Jan’s bullets again to ensure the platform is as high as it can be. With that done, you can pick up the Luglox and jump with it to the highest level. You should leave it on the edge of the platform overlooking the recessed area you picked it up from at the start of this second section.

Next, you need Gus. Use his secondary vacuum ability to switch the panel of the orange-and-white box on the wall of the recessed area in which you first picked up the Luglox. This reveals an electrical point on which you can use Sheath’s spikes, just like you did to navigate PoolCon, RailCon, and HumanCon.

Next, connect this electrical point to the Luglox to use it as an amplifier — you may need to adjust the Luglox’s position to ensure there’s a clear line of sight between the two desired points. Then, there’s an amplifier in the corner of the room at its highest level and another above the door that takes you back to the first area. Connect these with Sheath’s spikes to complete this second puzzle section.

Before you get back to the first area, however, you enter a connecting room with a cash-filled green Luglox and another orange one. When you leave this room, you’ll find yourself back in the first area, but at a level below where you first entered — this is made clear when you see the floating platform appearing just as you enter the space on your left.

If you have any issues with shooting or lifting your Luglox into position, you can always go back to the spot where you first claimed it to get a fresh one. Slash the spot with Knifey, which removes the previous one from your game.

Place your Luglox down and use Travis and Jan’s Trick Shots to levitate it onto the platform. Jump onto the platform with the Luglox, and turn right until you see another panel on which you need to use Gus’ vacuum ability again. This reveals another electrical point which needs connecting with Sheath’s spikes to the amplifier behind where you stood when you levitated the Luglox onto the floating platform. The next connection point is the Luglox, and you need to connect that to another amplifier above the first door you opened to complete the first puzzle section.

Then, the next amplifier is above the spot you first entered the space, on the highest level of the room. Opposite that, still on the highest level, is the connection point that opens the door that completes the puzzle. Head inside, without missing the Luglox that increases Jan and Travis’ reload speed as you enter on your left, and continue around the corner to discover Gurgula’s final missive.

Once you’ve found all three, the Dr. Gurgula Will Return achievement in High on Life 2 should ping.
