Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC Has a Checklist of Burning Questions to Answer
Spoilers ahead for Resident Evil Requiem.
Whether it’s the achievements and Trophies for Resident Evil Requiem having descriptions that specify to complete a task “in the main story,” the remarkable sales success for Resident Evil Requiem ensuring a sizable audience, or the always reliable leaker Dusk Golem sharing that DLC is deep in development, practically everyone expects some additional content for the game. While challenge modes and Mercenaries would be cool and all, given the number of lingering questions that the main story of Resident Evil Requiem left fans to ponder, a story-driven DLC feels like a must.
While Resident Evil‘s ambitious remake plans are apparently set to continue with Code: Veronica and Zero (and potentially the original Resident Evil game), this means that Resident Evil 10 is surely years away. And even when it does come out, there’s no guarantee that it keeps the focus on Leon and the questions his latest adventure in Raccoon City raised. The series is known for jumping around between its many iconic characters, with updates on Claire and especially Jill feeling overdue, not to mention Chris’ war with the corrupt BSAA. Basically, a meaningful story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem feels essential since there are so many plot points that should be touched on sooner rather than later.
Resident Evil Requiem Lends Credence to the RE1 Remake Rumors
A second remake of the original Resident Evil is supposedly in the early days of development, something the events of Requiem seem to back up.
All the Questions Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC Can (and Should) Tackle
- Who is Leon Married to?
- What is Ada Wong up to?
- What’s going on with The Connections and the Post Credits scene?
- What exactly is Zeno’s deal?
- What’s going to happen with Elpis?
- What about Chris and the evil BSAA?
Probably the biggest question players have after rolling credits in Resident Evil Requiem is who Leon Kennedy is married to. Not only is a wedding ring clearly visible in some concept art for the character, but he’s shown handling the ring at the end of the game. Naturally, theories have sparked up online about who the lucky lady is. Despite seeming very down-to-business on his calls with Sherry, some people think the two could have tied the knot. There’s a camp for Ashley, especially after RE4 Remake improved Ashley’s character, while the bloodline jokes have reached new levels of popularity since a Claire Redfield marriage is on the table. And, of course, there’s a world where Leon’s flirting with Ada became more than a brief fling, with the two finally becoming a proper couple.

While the Ada path seems the most likely given how often the two were paired up over the years, it’s hardly the only option. It would, however, work as an answer to the question of where Ada was during the events of the game, and would allow for her to have been there without actually being there. It felt odd having a Leon-centric game without the notorious spy, even if he was plenty busy protecting Grace Ashcroft and slaying hundreds of undead enemies. Leon’s relationship status would be the easiest thing to answer, but there are a lot of questions pertaining to the wider story that a DLC could tackle.
For instance, many are clamoring for more information on The Connections and Zeno, as the former has seemingly replaced Umbrella as the big bad and the latter is seemingly a Wesker clone. This is just a guess based on Gideon calling him an imitation in the villains’ final interaction, but it’s the best that fans have at the moment, as for some reason, Capcom left nearly no lore about Zeno for players to discover. There are still questions about how long Zeno has been around and how he got his abilities, but with the clone’s head seemingly recovered post-game, perhaps he’ll be seen again in a future entry. Either way, some lore documents in a DLC explaining his situation and expanding on The Connections’ plans and members would very much be welcome.
Zeno was introduced in the largely unpopular Umbrella Corps, but received little lore in the failed multiplayer spin-off, leaving fans scratching their heads about his purpose.
On top of all this, Elpis has to be addressed, as the heroes of Resident Evil essentially have a cure for any bioweapon and creature they encounter going forward. Resident Evil without bioweapon plotlines sounds like a risky endeavor, so perhaps Capcom could find a way to write Elpis out of the story, but as of now it’s a powerful get-out-of-jail-free card that has to be addressed. Finally, there’s Chris and the evil BSAA, with the faction getting little more than a brief mention during Leon’s hunt for the demolition charge. Perhaps Chris’ message, which we’ve yet to hear, pertains to the group, and maybe he’s off battling them somewhere.
Resident Evil: Requiem’s Subtitle is All About Leon Kennedy
Resident Evil: Requiem puts the spotlight back on Leon Kennedy, and the game’s subtitle has been hinting at his journey all along.
What an Ideal Resident Evil Requiem DLC Would Look Like
With these questions in mind, Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC would have no shortage of concepts to play with. Fortunately, it could fit just about everything into a single story-driven expansion, as it’s not hard to imagine a plot that ties these concepts together. While Alyssa Ashcroft was supposedly set to be the star of the DLC at one point in time, she may instead be used in Mercenaries, as Dusk Golem’s recent findings suggest that a Leon DLC is coming to Requiem. And if that’s the case, it becomes infinitely more likely for these questions to be properly followed up upon instead of being left to linger for years (or seemingly forever, like Resident Evil Revelations’ endings).
The supposed Leon DLC could see him going off to help Chris with the BSAA, which has been using bioweapons in the field. With Elpis in-hand, Leon could combat these bioweapons directly, perhaps weaponizing the cure to shoot and disinfect infected victims in the same way Gideon zombified them with a dart gun. Along the way, they could find links between the BSAA and Connections, potentially even finding documents pertaining to Zeno that make his existence less vague. And during conversations with Chris where the two heroes catch up, Chris and Leon could naturally update each other on the statuses of their loved ones. Chris could provide an update on his sister Claire, while Leon could casually reveal the identity of his wife. Though this kind of DLC would be very action-focused, which could be a letdown to those who prefered Grace’s scarier sections, it would tie a bow on Requiem’s story, which should really be Capcom’s priority before moving on.
