Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Wishblossom Ranch DLC Has an Ace Up Its Sleeve

By newsgame

November 19, 2025, saw the release of life simulation title Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s third paid DLC, Wishblossom Ranch. Like the previous A Rift in Time and Storybook Vale expansions, Wishblossom Ranch introduces an entirely new land to explore, new characters to meet, and a self-contained story. In addition, Wishblossom Ranch features a brand-new mechanic in the form of befriending and riding various horses from classic Disney films as well as original customizable horses. However, the latest Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion has an ace up its sleeve — and it isn’t just the ability to pet Maximus or go flying on Pegasus.

In addition to Maximus from Tangled and Pegasus from Hercules, Wishblossom Ranch introduces Khan from Mulan.

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Previous Expansions Were Criticized For Pacing

Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s first DLC, A Rift in Time, released in late 2023 and saw two more updates throughout 2024. The story was broken into three parts, with the first part involving meeting Rapunzel, EVE, and Gaston, the second investigating strange magic draining the color from the world, and the final confronting the villainous Jafar.

While the DLC’s characters and the Eternity Isle setting were generally well-liked, some Dreamlight Valley players criticized the long gap between updates and felt that the story didn’t need to be stretched into three parts. In particular, the second part of the update, which introduced Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as a Villager, was disliked for feeling like filler, as it did little to advance the overall story of Eternity Isle. It didn’t help that all regions of Eternity Isle and its resources — such as fish, crops, and gemstones — were all available when the DLC initially released, making the second and third updates feel particularly slight.

Storybook Vale Was Only a Partial Improvement

Storybook Vale mitigated things somewhat by releasing in two parts, rather than three, one in late 2024 and the other in mid-2025. However, there was still some criticism for the long gap between the two updates, with some fans admitting on social media that they forgot Part 1’s story entirely during the several-month wait for Part 2.

The Wishblossom Ranch Expansion Offers A Complete Story

Unlike A Rift in Time and Storybook Vale, the Wishblossom Ranch expansion contains the complete story of the Wishblossom Mountains and the mysterious Decay phenomenon sapping its Pixie Dust-powered wishing magic. Players who buy Wishblossom Ranch immediately have access to everything without having to wait for future updates staggered throughout 2026.

This is a good decision on developer Gameloft’s part. Dreamlight Valley is already packed with updates — new characters and Star Paths are added roughly every six weeks to two months, with each update adding several new Quests to complete and features to unlock. In 2025, the number and complexity of limited-time events also significantly increased, with new celebrations such as Cheshire Cat Chaos and the Haunted Floating Festival, plus additions to existing events like the Eggstravaganza or Disney Parks Fest.

Wishblossom Ranch Better Fits the DDV Play Routine

As a regular Dreamlight Valley player, it can feel hard to stay caught up with everything going on, especially if you’re someone who likes to complete each Star Path and keep up to date on daily tasks like harvesting crops, talking to Villagers, or playing Scramblecoin. Adding two or three updates to a DLC throughout the year just makes the game feel even more crowded and impossible to keep up with.

With Wishblossom Ranch’s entire story dropping at once, players can take it at their own pace, without having to worry about several month gaps or mid-year “filler” updates. In addition, some tasks, such as raising each horse to max Friendship Level or fully upgrading the ranch’s Stable, could potentially take quite a while, meaning that players will have things to do in Wishblossom Ranch for quite a long time and don’t run the risk of finishing the expansion’s content in a day or two. This strategy of dropping a complete expansion at once rather than spreading it out across a year is a good one; Disney Dreamlight Valley would be wise to make it a habit.
