In Chapter 8 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cloud and will join up with Aerith in the Sector 5 Slums and explore her little town. After a story beat involving saving some kids from monsters in the Children’s Secret Hideout, some side quests will appear on the map for Cloud to complete for several rewards.

One of these quests is called ‘Weapons on a Rampage‘ and will require Cloud to go out into the field and find five Mark II Monodrive enemies. This Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade guide will show players who to speak to to initiate the side quest and how to complete it quickly. Let’s get into it!

Speak to the Scared NPC

If you head up the path north of Chadley’s location in the Sector 5 Slums, you’ll come across a “scared man” who will give Cloud the ‘Weapons on a Rampage’ side quest.

He wants the duo to find and defeat five of Shinra’s weapons, which he calls ‘floating eyeballs.’ He’s talking about the Mark II Monodrive enemies.

To find the first set of Mark II Monodrive monsters, you can look on the north side of the Scrapyard Back Alley (the left red box in the image above).

The second set of monsters is found close by (just to the east) in the Twilight Valley section of the map (red box on the right). Some players might be confused by this quest, as the green ‘Goal’ marker on the in-game map doesn’t actually show the exact location of the enemies.

Once the Mark II Monodrives make a shield around them, hit them with a strong magic attack to break it. If you happen to have the Wind Materia equipped to Aerith or Cloud, it’ll do extra damage to the monsters. However, most other magic spells should do the trick.

What’s the Reward for Completing Weapons a Rampage Side Quest in FF7 Remake?

As soon as you defeat the fifth Mark II Monodrive, the game will allow you to return to the questgiver automatically without having to run back into town.

Once you speak to the man, he will give you a pair of Protective Boots as a reward. The equipment doesn’t have any stat increases, but it makes the user immune to the Slow and Stop debuffs. You will also unlock the ‘Paying Respects‘ Side Quest, which can be started by speaking to the old man near the weapons vendor.
