How to Get Sucklebugs, Witherweed, & Molted Gumshell in MH Stories 3

In Eleanor’s Side Story Chapter 1 in Monster Hunter Stories 3, she wants you to help her find three materials so she can cook up a rather… interesting dish. The three items she needs are Sucklebugs, Witherweed, & Molted Gumshell, with the latter being the trickiest to find.

How to Mark the Material Locations on the Map

To start Eleanor’s Side Story in MH Stories 3, she’ll have you scour the surrounding area with a telescope to pin the ingredients for the recipe. There will be multiple locations with exclamation points, but you only need to find three of them.

Sucklebug Location

The first spot is the island to the left of the castle. This is where you’ll go to find Sucklebugs. Once you’re free to explore, head to the isle by swimming or flying and use your monstie to attack the large rocks with blue gems sticking out of them. You’ll get Sucklebugs as soon as they’re destroyed.

Paolumu Location (Molted Gumshell)

The second location to mark on the map is a cliff to the left that’s known to have a Paolumu habitat. Once you’re free to explore, go to the yellow circle on the map and look for a Paolumu.

You actually don’t need to engage in battle with it to get the Molted Gumshell. Just switch your current Monstie to Rathalos and use its Breath attack to shoot a fireball at it. If done correctly, the material will drop from the monster.

Witherweed Location

The third and final location is by a riverbank (keep turning the telescope left past the Paolumu cliff, and you should see it). Once you leave the telescope, you can travel to the spot marked on the map and look for a glowing blue item by a cliff wall.

How to Complete Eleanor’s Side Story Chapter 1 (& Rewards)

Once you find the materials, head over to the nearby camp, and a cutscene will automatically start, bringing the quest to an end. You’ll learn a little more about Eleanor, and she’ll cook you her specialty dish: Vermeilian Dumplings (yum)! You’ll also get Eleanor’s Cooking Note 1 recipe.
