In Heartopia, there are a bunch of hobbies designed to help you unwind and explore at your own pace. While fishing and gardening are the ones that’ll take up most of your time early on, there’s another relaxing and addictive hobby you need to unlock: Insect Catching.

Insect Catching encourages players to slow down, pay attention to their surroundings, and find the fluttering and crawling creatures hidden throughout Heartpoia. Every leaf, rock, and flower can hide a new insect. Read on to learn how you can unlock the Insect Catching hobby in Heartopia and complete your insect journal.

Cooking in Heartopia is more than just making meals. When done right, it can perfectly synergize with your other hobbies.

How to Unlock the Insect Catching Hobby in Heartopia

Before you can begin your insect adventures, you first need to unlock the hobby. Insect Catching becomes available at Developer Level 6. At this stage, you get a Hobby Expansion Ticket, which you can use to permanently unlock one of three available hobbies.

To unlock Insect Catching:

Visit Naniwa, who is located near the river in his garden.
Speak with Naniwa to learn the basics of catching insects and how this hobby enhances your Heartopia experience.
Visit all three Hobby Mentors, then return to Naniwa with your Hobby Expansion Ticket.
Hand over the ticket to permanently unlock Insect Catching.
Once unlocked, Naniwa will gift you a bubble net. This is the main tool you’ll use for catching insects.

How to Catch Insects in Heartopia

Catching insects in Heartopia is pretty simple, but it requires patience. Here’s what you need to do:

Equip the bubble net from your toolbox.
Slowly approach an insect to avoid startling it.
Tap on the action button to make a quick bubble, or hold it to charge a precise bubble for a careful capture.
Release the bubble when in range to catch the insect.

Once caught, insects can be displayed in Vivariums at home or sold to Albert Jr. for gold.

Some insects get scared easily. This is why you need to move carefully to improve your chances of catching them.
