Gobannan’s Missing Scales Location in GreedFall 2: The Dying World
In GreedFall 2: The Dying World, Gobannon’s golden scales for “The Missing Scales” regional quest can be found in the Deep Tunnels, a sub-area located in the Mining Exploitation zone north of the village. This area only becomes accessible during the main story progression, where players are completing the “A New Evil” main quest.
Although the quest description suggests that you look for the person who took Gobannon’s missing scales in the village, the thief is actually not in the village at all. The missing scales have been stolen by a deranged villager named Vlann, who is hiding in the depths of the mines. He is convinced that he needs them to appease the gods, and will not let them go easily.
The Missing Scales Walkthrough in GreedFall 2: The Dying World
As mentioned previously, Gobannon’s missing scales can be found in the possession of Vlann, who is hiding out in the mines. To get to him, you’ll first need to progress through the “A New Evil” mission to gain entry into the mines.
You do not need to “ask around” in the village to get a hint about the scales, and can head directly to Vlann in the Deep Tunnels to get them.
Start “A New Evil” quest by talking to Mev to begin your Doneigad initiation, and progress through the quest until you get the Key to the Mines to enter the Deep Tunnels.
Follow the narrow, linear path through the mines until you go past the Main Well area. Here, look for a fork in the path that leads to the Forgotten Altar.
Approach Vlann at the Forgotten Altar, and he will block your path, telling you that he has the missing scales, but he will not part with them at any cost. You have two options here:
- Kill Vlann: You will be able to recover the missing scales immediately from the chest behind him. This will not reduce your reputation with your companions.
- Convince Vlann: Return to your village and talk to Toflan at the Dispensary about Vlann. Then, go back to Vlann at the Forgotten Altar and select the Doneigad dialogue option. He will be convinced to leave the Altar and go to your village to seek wisdom from your sage master. Now, you’ll be able to loot the missing scales from the chest behind him.
Regardless of which method you choose to retrieve the missing scales, return them to Gobannon in your village, and he will give you a ritual object.
Take the ritual object to Armal in the Visitors’ House, and he will give you the Autumn Bow as a reward, and you will receive 350 experience. The Missing Scales quest will be marked completed in your journal.
Armal is a vendor who sells a lot of useful items like healing potions, ingredients, weapons, and armor for gold. Use him to your benefit.
