How to Reach Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet
Kaifeng is the second region players get access to in Where Winds Meet, and unlike Qinghe, this one is defined by its grasslands and the eponymous walled city that the region is named after. There’s plenty of new things to discover in Kaifeng, but before you can go there, you’ll have to clear a lot of stuff from your quest journal first.
Sadly, you can’t just walk into Kaifeng. If you haven’t completed the Qinghe part of the main story quest yet, then any attempt to cross over to the neighboring region will just teleport you back. If you really want to get to Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet, here’s what you need to do.

How to Unlock Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet
To reach Kaifeng, you’ll need to finish the For Whom Does He Return segment of the main storyline, which is directly under Chapter One – Heaven Has No Pier. This is a fairly lengthy quest that’s very combat-heavy. Not only will you have to face waves upon waves of Aureate soldiers, but you’ll also have to face off with a particularly tough boss at the end.
How to Beat Qianye in Where Winds Meet
We strongly recommend upgrading your character as much as possible before taking on the boss in this quest. The fight is quite hard, and it is extremely tough on Legend difficulty. Upgrade your Medicine Chest as much as possible and craft as many healing items as you can.
Qianye is a much stronger version of the scythe-wielding boss in Still Shore, and while her first phase isn’t that hard to beat, her second phase is significantly harder. Unfortunately, there’s no trick or shortcut to beating Qianye, but here are a few tips to make the fight a little easier:
- If you haven’t already, unlock Melodies of Peace passives from Qi Sheng for bonus stats.
- Fully upgrade your gear and break through level caps.
- Use a Panacea Fan for free healing.
- Bring a gap-closing skill like Cloud Steps.
- Bind Meridian Touch to an easy-to-reach button.
- You absolutely need to learn how to parry her attacks.
Once you beat the boss, you’ll then need to go to the dockmaster near Harvestfall Village. They’ll take you to Kaifeng as part of the next chapter of the story.
Are There Any Requirements Before Reaching Kaifeng?
When the game’s global version launched, Kaifeng was unavailable to players, even to those who had already beat the first story chapter. Several days after launch, Kaifeng was officially released, but to access it, not only did players need to beat the Chapter One questline, but they also needed to reach level 32. Those are the two strict requirements you need to meet before you can enter Kaifeng in Where Winds Meet.
