World of Warcraft Fans Can Get Some Amazing Diablo 4 Decor, But There’s a Catch

By newsgame

Gamers who pre-order Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred unlock several exclusive World of Warcraft Housing decor items – and fans are not happy about it. The Diablo 4-inspired chessboard, chest, and Bloodied Wolf pelt players can get in World of Warcraft are quite stylish, which has led many fans to be upset that they are locked behind a pre-order for a different game.

During The Game Awards, Diablo 4 officially revealed Lord of Hatred, its second expansion pack. The conclusion of the Saga of Hatred pits players against Mephisto once and for all in the storied isle of Skovos, once home to Inarius, Lilith, and the Nephalem.

Diablo 4 Season 11’s Secret Altar Mystery Has Been Solved, and It Comes With Some Must-Have Rewards

Diablo 4 Season 11’s biggest mystery has been solved, and players will want to find out for themselves what rewards they can earn from this event.

WoW Fans Upset About D4: Lord of Hatred Pre-Order Housing Decor

Pre-orders for this new expansion are now available, but some of the perks for purchasing it have caught Diablo 4 some flak from an unexpected place: the World of Warcraft community. Among many other perks for Diablo 4 itself, players who buy Lord of Hatred unlock the Wolphisto rug, a chest, and a Heaven and Hell-themed chess set as premium decor items in World of Warcraft. These cosmetics are of exceptional quality, but the fact that they are locked behind a $40+ purchase of a different game has led some fans to be more than a little angry, with at least 100 comments across Wowhead and the WoW forums expressing their displeasure.

Among the three decor pieces, the chess set is by far the worst offender. The heavy Diablo theme of the Wolphisto rug and chest makes these items mostly attractive to fans of the ARPG. However, the chessboard is general enough that even gamers who don’t like Diablo would want it. What’s worse, there are no other chess set decor items in WoW yet, making this the only way for players to get this type of game board in their houses right now.

Unfortunately, it gets even worse. Hype over Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred has caused the pre-order website to be unreliable since its reveal at The Game Awards, and those who have managed to buy it have had issues with these new decor pieces not showing up in World of Warcraft; an issue Blizzard is aware of, but that may take time to resolve. Additionally, it is currently unclear if there is any way to get duplicates of these items, and in order to get a house, fans will also need to buy World of Warcraft: Midnight as well as Lord of Hatred, meaning a minimum of $90 would be required to actually use these items.

This isn’t the first time Diablo 4 has included limited-time World of Warcraft items in its pre-purchases. The Amalgam of Rage used by Astaroth was temporarily obtainable as a mount in World of Warcraft by pre-ordering Diablo 4, and again to celebrate WoW‘s 20th anniversary last year, but beyond that, there has been no way to get this rare item. Players can likewise expect these Housing decor items to be impossible to get after this promotion, unless it brings them back for a limited time later on.

That said, the Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred pre-orders do have a lot of awesome perks. Beyond the WoW Housing decor, the Standard Edition of the expansion also includes one Stash tab, two character slots, the Vessel of Hatred expansion, and early access to the Paladin class that was shadow-dropped in Season 11. The Deluxe Edition also includes the High Heavensguard cosmetic bundle for Diablo 4‘s new Paladin class, the Skatatan Basilisk Mount, the Premium Battle Pass Bundle, and Skorch, a Mini Chimera Pet, while the Ultimate Edition adds a slew of additional heavenly cosmetics, as well as 3,000 Platinum.
