Mysterious IOU Encounter Quest Walkthrough in Where Winds Meet
Encounter quests are unique and at times time-limited events that Wanderers can discover when exploring the open world. The Mysterious IOU quest is one of the new Encounters you can follow in the Hexi region, learning more about a village’s mysterious healer who saved you. How to Unlock the Mysterious IOU Encounter Quest in Where Winds Meet
The Mysterious IOU Encounter quest can be triggered by finding three hidden items labelled “Unparalleled” scattered across the Lost Crossing area. You can start looking for these hidden “Unparalleled” items from the Karez Boundary Stone to seek them out in the locations below:
- “Unparalleled” Manual: From the Karez Boundary Stone, travel southeast and look for a pallet of crates where you can find this item atop one crate.
- “Unparalleled” Treasure: Travel south from the Karez Boundary Stone towards the golden sand boundary called Splendor quicksand, and look for a patch of grass where this item is hiding.
- “Unparalleled” Wine: Travel north from the Karez Boundary Stone and look for the Hexi Oddity vendor, Qi Xian, where you must find a tree nearby where this item is found near its roots.
After finding the third “Unparalleled” hidden item, regardless of the order it was found, a cutscene will be triggered with your character passing out and waking up shortly afterwards. The quest NPC will be nearby, and speaking to him begins the Encounter quest.
Where Winds Meet: The Mysterious IOU Encounter Quest Walkthrough Guide
Speak to the quest NPC, the Apothecarium Physician, who’s nearby the Karez Boundary Stone, about the person who rescued you, named Xiaohu. Once you have exhausted all his dialogue, you can receive an IOU slip, which you’ll need to deliver to a monk, Youtong, whom you can inquire with for more information about this mysterious healer, Xiaohu.
You will be tasked next to find three notes to learn more about this mysterious healer, and these notes are marked on the Hexi world map. The first of these notes is north of the monk, Youtong, near a flagpole, and you can immediately pick this up before traveling to the remaining locations marked on the map.
Depending on which of the remaining locations you travel to next, which are marked on the world map, the IOU Note beside the Outside Whitecrown Fortress can be retrieved by going towards the giant sword and picking up the note. The other IOU Note location is east of the Poplar Boundary Stone, where you’ll find two bandits at the location of which using the Celestial Seize Mystic Skill on the one standing will allow you to take the IOU Note.
With all three slips collected, you’ll need to hand over each note to the three creditors found at the Lost Crossing area. Teleport to the Karez Boundary Stone and head to the following locations to hand over the slips to these creditors:
- Tang Qi: The general goods vendor is marked on the Hexi world map, and this creditor is beside the merchant; therefore, he should be easy to find by heading towards the Shop icon in-game.
- Yi Shisan: This creditor is also in the Lost Crossing area, from the Karez Boundary Stone, as you can see this creditor atop the roof of a house.
- Hu Nu’er: This creditor is located indoors, so from the Karez Boundary Stone, head west into a building by the chess NPC, and once inside, take the door to the right, where you can find him by an anvil.
Speak to all three creditors and hand over the slips before returning to the monk, Youtong, before burying the IOU slip in the sand near the flag by the NPC. After completing this, the Encounter quest will conclude, and as such, you’ll receive the following rewards for your efforts:
- Sunward Spear
- 25 Echo Jade
- 25 Hexi Exploration points
- 200 Enlightenment points
- 7 500 Coins
