Popular Steam RPG Where Winds Meet has reached a staggering 15 million players, just a month after its launch. Where Winds Meet has taken the gaming world by storm and has even already received its first major content update, expanding the playable area with the addition of the Roaring Sands map.
Where Winds Meet has wasted no time bringing in plenty of players to try out the new RPG. Despite being the first game developed by Everstone Studio, Where Winds Meet welcomed more than 2 million players to the game within just a day of its global release. The Steam version of the game has also seen some impressive numbers for a debut title, with Where Winds Meet peaking at 250,000 concurrent players one week after launch. Now, Where Winds Meet has smashed through a huge player milestone to celebrate its one-month anniversary.
Where Winds Meet Reveals Patch Notes for December 2 Update
Everstone Studio releases a new update for its popular free-to-play game, Where Winds Meet, while highlighting additional future improvements.
Where Winds Meet Passes 15 Million Players in One Month
Where Winds Meet shared its newest milestone via the game’s official social media channels. Everstone Studio officially confirmed that the global version of Where Winds Meet has seen 15 million players try out the game between its home console, PC, and mobile versions. While Where Winds Meet was previously available exclusively in China for early access, the game needed two months in the Chinese market to achieve the same level of success. Where Winds Meet also released the new Velvet Shade sect to commemorate its one-month celebrations, with the faction providing new skills for players to utilize with the Vernal Umbrella weapon.
Where Winds Meet‘s one-month milestone comes on the heels of the game launching its massive 1.1 update. The Version 1.1 patch for Where Winds Meet added the previously-mentioned Roaring Sands area, said to be one-third of the size of the game’s pre-existing area. The update adds a brand-new boss for players to challenge in Feng Ruzhi, alongside a brand-new Campaign centered around the imposing River Master. Where Winds Meet also raised the level cap as part of Version 1.1, with players now able to boost their in-game characters up to Level 65. The RPG even added two new outfits for players to pick up, with Magpie’s Farewell available through the Battle Pass and Formless Disguise included in the Draw Shop.
Where Winds Meet’s Success is Part of a Chinese Video Games Boom
Where Winds Meet‘s early success joins a growing trend of popular new games developed by China-based studios. Chinese developer HoYoverse has stood as one of the fastest-growing game studios operating out of China, owing to the massive popularity of games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. China’s growing influence on the gaming industry has even spread to The Game Awards, with Black Myth: Wukong becoming the first Chinese-developed game to be nominated for Game of the Year in 2024. Where Winds Meet also appeared at the 2025 Game Awards, though only for a trailer promoting the game’s newly-released mobile version.
Fans of Where Winds Meet should have lots to look forward to from the game, closing out 2025 with a bang. Everstone Studio is planning to add multiple missions to the game throughout the remainder of December, including a new Sword Trial and a Hero’s Realm raid in Weeks 3 and 4. Where Winds Meet has also teased a Fireworks Festival to celebrate the end of the year, set to officially arrive to the game on December 30. Where Winds Meet should have everything lined up to carry the momentum of its launch month well into the future.
