MH Stories 3 Finding the Regalfin Quest Guide
Players can find a Regalfin in the lake surrounding Azuria castle in Monster Hunter Stories 3. Specifically, one can be found in a cave under one of the islands southwest of the castle itself.
This Regalfin is part of the Finding the Regalfin side quest given by one of the NPCs in the western shore of the lake. It’s a little tricky to find at first, but MH Stories 3 players should be able to spot the Regalfin fairly quickly once they know where to look.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Regalfin Location
Once players accept the quest given by the Dressmaker NPC near the lake’s shore, they’ll get a quest marker that leads to the island specified above. For the unaware, Regalfins are dolphin-like animals, which means you can only find them in the water.
To find the Regalfin, circle the water around the island until you see a cave opening. Head inside, and you’ll find a Regalfin patiently waiting for you to find it. Interact with the cheerful dolphin, and it’ll greet you happily before promptly retreating back into the water. Now that you’ve seen one, you can head straight back to the Dressmaker and tell her all about what you saw.
You can swim or use a flying Monstie to reach the island. However, the best way to traverse any large body of water is to mount a Leviathan or Piscine Monstie like a Royal Ludroth or Plesioth.
Finding the Regalfin Quest Reward
Upon completing the Finding the Regalfin quest, you’ll unlock the recipe for the Edel armor set. This is one of the more attractive early game sets in Monster Hunter Stories 3 thanks to its high base defense stat relative to other armor sets at this point in the game. It also comes with the following Decorations:
- Antivenom (M): Chance to negate Poison, Noxious Poison, and Severe Poison.
- Item Saver (M): Low chance to not consume items when using them.
The Antivenom decoration is highly situational, and not many monsters can inflict Poison early in the game. Meanwhile, the Item Saver decoration can help you conserve resources while fighting enemies. However, given the low chance of it activating, it’s not very reliable.
Admittedly, the Edel armor’s decorations aren’t the best for combat. However, the 42 Defense it offers makes it stronger than most other armor sets during the early part of the MH Stories 3 campaign. If you’re not particularly worried about decorations, then the Edel armor set is well worth using until you get an armor set that complements your preferred playstyle.
