Skyrim’s Riverwood Recreated in The Sims 4
An extremely dedicated The Sims 4 player has painstakingly recreated Riverwood from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim in Maxis’s hit life sim game. Their achievement adds to the ever-growing list of astonishing builds that the Sims 4 community has authored to date.
Skyrim has long served as an inspiration for fan-made The Sims 4 content. While custom characters drawing from Bethesda’s iconic RPG are by far the most common type of such creations, every once in a while, a highly committed player sets out to accomplish something much more ambitious.
The Sims 4 Update Breaks Feature from 2024 Expansion
Maxis acknowledges player complaints about the December 2025 update for The Sims 4 breaking one of the game’s recently added features.
Highly Dedicated Fan Recreates Skyrim’s Riverwood in The Sims 4
In the latest testament to this trend, Reddit user DeadGirlRot—also known by their EA ID Lilithx88—has shared a near-complete recreation of Skyrim‘s starter town Riverwood in The Sims 4. The project includes all major landmarks from the original location, such as the Sleeping Giant Inn and the Riverwood Trader general goods shop. The raised wooden porches with steps and railings reflect how these buildings are slightly elevated above street level in Skyrim. Additional architectural details—such as thatched eaves, boxed flowerbeds, and hanging shop signs—further align the build with Bethesda’s beloved 2011 game.
Lilithx88 built the project on the largest possible The Sims 4 lot, a 64 x 64 parcel that they utilized to the fullest. Not only have they gone to great lengths to recreate Riverwood’s exterior, but they also furnished the interiors of all the included buildings. They did so with great attention to detail, making sublocations like the Sleeping Giant Inn common room and Riverwood Trader’s alchemy corner immediately recognizable to Skyrim fans.
Lilithx88’s Riverwood Lot Doesn’t Use Any Kind of Sims 4 Custom Content
Making matters even more impressive, this awe-inspiring Riverwood recreation was accomplished with no Sims 4 custom content of any kind, as its author is a console user. Lilithx88 says that the build is almost fully functional, in the sense that the vast majority of its furniture and other objects are usable by in-game characters. The main exception is the benches, some of which are placed too closely together to be used. The creator says they’re still experimenting with the decor and might revisit the bench placement in the near future. While the design doesn’t rely on custom content, it makes extensive use of The Sims 4 DLC, with Lilithx88 revealing they own “almost all” of the game’s expansions, build kits, and other add-ons that Maxis released over the years.
