The new mechanic can get a bit confusing, and players might be wondering if these levels are permanent or temporary. So, in order to explain that and how to reach new power levels in the Mega Dimension DLC, here’s a quick guide on everything trainers should know about the ‘new level cap.’

How Do Mega Dimension Levels Work in Pokemon Legends Z-A
Once players have reached the level cap with their Pokemon team (that is, level 100) there’s a new battle mechanic that is exclusive to the Mega Dimension DLC: Mega Dimension Levels.
These additional levels are granted to Pokemon temporarily, and only while inside Hyperspace Lumiose, which means they won’t be able to remain beyond level 100 after completing an incursion.
Mega Dimension levels are related to Ansha’s Donuts and Hoopa‘s power, and the better the quality of the Donuts used to empower Hoopa while diving into a Hyperdimension Rift, the higher the Mega Dimension level added to the Pokemon will be.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC Officially Breaks a Huge Gen 1 Tradition
Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to officially break a tradition started with Gen 1 games when the Mega Dimension DLC comes out.
For example, if the challenge level of the rift is 2 Stars, then wild Pokemon inside the rift will have levels that range from 110 to 120. Crafting and consuming a 2 Star Donut made in Ansha’s store will grant the players’ Pokemon additional levels equal to or similar to those of the rift.
The higher the Quality of the Donut, the higher the Level Boost will be. Make sure to consume Donuts that are equal to or higher in power than the challenge level of the Pokemon in the rift, or the team is going to suffer, as the incursion will be extremely hard for them.
Donuts can also offer additional effects such as Enhanced Resistance to certain Type-Moves, increased attack power, and such.
How To Craft Higher-Level Donuts in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC
The level of the Donuts players can cook in Ansha’s shop is related to the quality of the ingredients used to craft them. Pay attention to the following stats:
- Level Boost: Indicates the increase in Levels granted to the Party’s Pokemon by consuming the donut.
- Donut Energy: Each Point is equal to 1 Second in the Rift Incursion Timer. The higher the more time players will have to explore the Rifts.
- Flavor Score: Increases according to the Calories and Flavor combinations that Berries have. Higher quality Berries equal more Flavor Score, and better quality (Stars) Donuts.
Berries obtained inside the Hyperspace Lumiose will have better quality and Flavor Scores, so the results will be even greater. It is also possible that these offer additional effects, such as more chances to encounter Shiny Pokemon, and increased chances to interrupt Rogue Mega Pokemon attacks.
