Final Fantasy 14 Fans Can Get a Free Fantasia Before Patch 7.4
There is still a free Fantasia that players can get in Final Fantasy 14 right now, but only up until the release of Patch 7.4 on December 16. Fans should be sure to log in, travel to Gridania, and pick up this free $10 item before it is gone in the next Final Fantasy 14 update.
Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is gearing up for a big update on December 16. Titled Into the Mist, Patch 7.4 is slowly moving on from Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail towards its next adventure, all while wrapping up many of the loose ends from the expansion’s stories.
World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 Are Currently Trading Blows
World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 have always been in competition with one another, but their decade-long war is really starting to heat up.
However, there is something players need to remember to do before patch day arrives. There is a free Fantasia waiting for fans in the game that they can pick up at no additional cost. Players can earn this item simply by speaking to the Wandering Moogle near Apkallu Falls in Old Gridania in Final Fantasy 14. That said, there is a catch: this freebie will only be available until Patch 7.4, so fans will need to do so before the game goes down for maintenance on or around December 15 before the update. This means players have just under a week from press time to log in and claim this reward if they have not done so already.

Fantasias are the cash shop item in Final Fantasy 14 that lets one recustomize their character. While the Aesthetician can change details like hair, makeup, and facial features for a nominal fee of gil, Fantasias let gamers change their character’s face, voice, gender, or even race. These consumable items typically run for about $10 alone, so getting one for free is a nice bonus.
That said, this isn’t the first free Fantasia fans have gotten in the game. Every character gets one for free for completing the base story of A Realm Reborn, and a second was made available via the Bottled Fantasy quest in Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail to let players tweak their toons after the expansion’s graphics update. This Patch 7.3 free Fantasia is actually the third one the Wandering Moogle has given out; the first two were temporarily offered during Patches 7.1 and 7.2 after adjustments were made to character models. This allowed fans to change their characters’ appearances in response to these modifications without having to spend more money.
What’s Next in Final Fantasy 14?
While players are claiming their free Fantasia, they might want to finish up their milestones in the Moogle Treasure Trove event. Also, until Patch 7.4, fans can earn Irregular Tomestones of Revelation by completing various in-game activities and duties, which can be exchanged for both exclusive and rare rewards. Highlights from this event’s inventory include the brand-new Buuz Earring, the Tinker’s Bell Shadowbringers World Boss minion, and the Gwiber of Light mount from The Seat of Sacrifice (Extreme) Trial.
Then, once December 16 arrives, players will be able to dive into Patch 7.4 itself. A new leg of the Main Scenario Quest complete with a Dungeon and Trial, the conclusion to the Arcadion story featuring music from Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo, unrestricted glamour in Final Fantasy 14, and more await fans in the patch, with even more arriving in future updates.
While Patch 7.5 is still a way out, players already know a few things that are in store for them there, too. In addition to the prologue for the next expansion and the conclusion of the FF11 Alliance raid series, fans can expect another new Cosmic Exploration planet, the North Horn field for the Occult Crescent, an Ultimate raid, and the Beastmaster limited job in the next Final Fantasy 14 update. That said, the update will probably arrive no earlier than April, so it may be some time before gamers start seeing anything concrete about the last major update of Dawntrail.
