Fortnite‘s in-game currency, V-Bucks, has been available for sale since the early days. Players could exchange their V-Bucks for cosmetic items and passes; they could only be spent on official Epic Games content. However, that has now changed, and players can spend V-Bucks on creator-made islands.

How to Tell If a Creative Map Has In-Island Purchases

Players can check if a Creative map has in-island purchase options before they even load it. To do this, they must hover over it in the Discovery tab, select View Details, and then see if there is an “In-Island Transactions” label above the maximum player information.

Can You Keep Items Purchased In-Island?

Creative maps will save players’ progress, so if they make an in-island purchase, it will remain linked to their profile. However, any in-island items that they acquire cannot be used in any other Creative experience or Fortnite game modes. So, if they acquire a cosmetic on an island, they will only be able to equip it while playing that map.

Can You Refund V-Bucks Spent on a Creative Island?

Epic Games has confirmed that it is unable to issue refunds or returns for in-island transactions on creator-made islands. While Item Shop purchases can be refunded or canceled within a certain time frame, that is not the case with in-island purchases.

Therefore, if an island contains V-Buck transaction options, players must navigate it with additional caution to avoid any accidental purchases.

Thankfully, before making a purchase, a screen will pop up with information about what they may receive and how much it costs. So, the game won’t automatically take their money.

Can You Disable In-Island Purchases?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a setting that allows players to disable in-island transactions. With Parental Controls, it is possible to forbid cabined accounts from purchasing Random Reward Products.

How Much Can An In-Island Purchase Cost?

In-Island purchases can be set between 50 and 5,000 V-Bucks. Since there is no way to disable these transactions and they cannot be refunded, players must be cautious of what they click on when entering an island with the “in-island transactions” warning.

Even though 50 V-Bucks is only about $0.49, the 5,000 V-Bucks bundle costs $36.99, which is a significant amount of money that players would not be able to get back.
