Final Fantasy 14 Unveils New Cosmetics, But There’s A Catch

By newsgame

On November 14, Final Fantasy 14 launched a new mount and two hairstyles that players can obtain, though spending real money is required. Final Fantasy 14 players looking to get all three of these new cosmetic items for their collections must spend a combined $34 on the Online Store.

The Online Store additions arrived just three days after Final Fantasy 14 released Patch 7.38 on its servers. The 7.38 update was focused on fixing some known issues with Pilgrim’s Traverse deep dungeon that could impede players’ progress. Patch 7.38 also removed all restrictions on loot that players can obtain from the AAC Cruiserweight Tier (Savage) raid instances, which should make gearing up a smoother process. Additionally, a poster featuring key art from Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles can now be dropped from treasure chests in the Return To Ivalice alliance raid series, which requires access to the Stormblood expansion to obtain.

Final Fantasy 14 Players Can Buy A New Mount And Two Hairstyles

Now, Final Fantasy 14 players have three additional items to get for their collections, though each requires spending some hard-earned cash. Final Fantasy 14‘s newest hairstyles, ‘Modern Aesthetics — Hairstyle M’ and ‘Modern Aesthetics — Hairstyle F’, can be purchased for $5 each on the Online Store. Each hairstyle is inspired by the ones used by the superboss Omega in various instances, including The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) raid. Despite their titles, the Omega M and F hairdos can be used by all player characters, regardless of their race or gender. The new hairstyles can be bought as gifts that Final Fantasy 14 players can send to their friends, but they can only be used by one character per purchase. Separate, gender-locked pieces of gear based on Omega-M and Omega-F were added to Final Fantasy 14‘s Online Store in late 2023, and can be purchased for $12 each.

Along with the Omega-themed hairstyles, Final Fantasy 14 mount collectors can also purchase the Hovering Hot Pot mount. This magical, floating mount can only be ridden by one player, and comes with a $24 price tag. While it can’t be gifted to other players, the Hovering Hot Pot mount is an account-wide purchase. Ergo, Final Fantasy 14 players just need to buy it once for it to be distributed to all current and future characters on the same account.

The combined price of all three cosmetics is $34, before taxes and fees are applied. With more fresh content planned for the remaining Dawntrail patches, it remains to be seen what surprises Final Fantasy 14 still has in store for players.
