ARC Raiders Launches New Map After Community Smashes Event in Less Than 24 Hours

By newsgame

Players smash Embark Studios community goal in less than a day, unlocking a brand-new map to explore inside of ARC Raiders. After getting off to an absolutely massive start, ARC Raiders has managed to maintain that launch momentum with an expanding player base, positive word of mouth, and continued updates, including the first free content expansion.

While ARC Raiders has been dominating the sales charts since it launched, there has been plenty of excitement this week thanks to the announcement of a major new update. The North Line update for ARC Raiders brought with it a hefty new balance patch, while also adding in new content for players to explore. New ARC enemies, like the Matriarch and Shredder, pose new threads to players, alongside the promise of new loot to extract. The biggest piece of this update was a new global event called Breaking New Ground, calling all players to work together to unlock a new map.

It’s clear that players were excited at the prospect of unlocking the new Stella Montis map, as Embark Studios had to make the ARC Raiders goal more challenging as the community was donating materials at a much faster pace than expected. Players could donate their general materials like plastics, metals, chemicals, and others to contribute to an overall goal while also being rewarded with Merits for their trouble. However, even with a more challenging goal, the ARC Raiders community was able to smash the challenge in less than a day after it began, officially unlocking the fifth map to the game.

Unlike the other ARC Raider maps like Dam Battleground or Blue Line, Stella Montis takes the game’s post-apocalyptic tone and shifts it a bit to an abandoned facility built into a snowy mountain. The map itself is largely indoors full of long hallways, places to loot, and full of secrets, according to Embark. Alongside the new enemy types, the Stella Montis map is more vertical than the others, with two levels for players to explore. Player reactions so far have been very positive, and the update has even provided another boost to ARC Raiders‘ already impressive player numbers on Steam.

While the North Line update seems to have been a hit so far with players, it represents just the beginning of Embark’s plans. The studio released a content roadmap for ARC Raiders and now that November’s North Line update has arrived, players can look towards December for the next big content feature. Known as Cold Snap, Embark has revealed that maps can see a new Snowfall condition alongside the current ones, like the Electromagntic Storm, Hidden Bunkers, and Night Raids.

Cold Snap is also bringing a Flickering Flames event, which could see a similar community push to unlock some feature or condition. New quests will also be added, as well as the first post-launch Raider Deck, which is essentially a battle pass that features both free and paid-for items players can unlock. December is also the month that the Expedition Departure window is revealed, ARC Raiders version of a progression reset common with other Extraction-style games.
