This PS Plus Extra Game for November 2025 Just Kicked a Hornet’s Nest
The next games for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium have been announced, and subscribers to these tiers of Sony’s monthly service will be able to grab a total of 9 games to add to their libraries starting on November 18. PlayStation Plus has been enjoying a solid year, and this has been helped along by the fact that 2025 marked 15 years of PS Plus. Members have praised many of the choices from previous months, which saw PS Plus add a number of popular entries across a range of genres, with Stardew Valley, Lies of P, Cyberpunk 2077, and Alan Wake 2 being counted among some of the highlights so far.
The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for November include the roguelike driving sim Pacific Drive, narrative first-person horror Still Wakes the Deep, and one that likely needs little introduction–Grand Theft Auto 5. And it’s the latter that seems to be causing a bit of a stir. On paper, it would seem like the service giving out Rockstar Games’ most recent entry in its flagship franchise is a win. But due to the circumstances surrounding it, GTA 5 being included on PS Plus now is instead ruffling more than a few players’ feathers.
Recognized Dealabs insider Billbil-kun has continued their streak of accurately leaking PS Plus inclusions, having previously indicated that Silent Hill 2 Remake, Stray, and GTA 5 would all be hitting the service ahead of their official reveals in the past few lineups.
Grand Theft Auto 5 Being Added to PS Plus Extra and Premium Again for November 2025 Is Eroding Some of the Service’s Goodwill
Grand Theft Auto 5 has been on the higher two PS Plus tiers a total of three times, having hit the service around the same time beginning in 2023:
- December 2023
- November 2024
- November 2025
This isn’t the only case of a game appearing on PS Plus repeatedly, and titles have traditionally rotated on and off regularly. For example, one of the Essential games for this month, Stray, was originally a day one release for PS Extra in 2022. However, it will now be the third time that GTA 5 has come to the service in as many years, and the general reception to this hasn’t been as positive as Sony likely wished.
GTA Online is also included with GTA 5.
Sony putting Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS Plus Extra once again this year appears to be rather contentious, proving especially disappointing to some. Following the announcement, some PS Plus members took to expressing their dissatisfaction with the fact that GTA 5 will be coming to the service for a third year running. In the comments section of the official PS Plus blog, some subscribers had harsh words of criticism, with users stating that it can be perceived as a more cynical choice that lessens the value of the service. Others pointed out that there remain a number of games that have been frequently requested for PS Plus but have yet to arrive, and one of these could have been chosen instead. It should be noted, however, that not all members were critical of the decision. But the overall sentiment toward GTA 5‘s three-peat on PS Plus Extra specifically looks to lean toward the negative side.
And while the hype for the upcoming sixth entry still remains strong, the frustration around GTA 6‘s recent second delay could have also factored into the conversation about the preceding entry’s inclusion on PS Plus Extra. Either way, by adding GTA 5 to the service again now, it seems as if Sony has lost some of the positive momentum that it had previously built up, and it will be interesting to see if it can regain some of that goodwill back when the last batch of games for 2025 are revealed next month.
