ARC Raiders Reveals Patch Notes for New 1.4.0 Update
Embark Studios has begun rolling out a brand-new update for ARC Raiders on November 27, bringing the popular third-person extraction shooter to version 1.4.0 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Although the latest ARC Raiders update includes only a handful of fixes, it has finally addressed two of the shooter’s most prevalent exploits, which the community has been calling for to be fixed for the last few weeks. Thankfully, the update is now available to download and install across the aforementioned platforms, meaning these exploits should no longer be an issue the next time players head Topside.
The monumental success of ARC Raiders has taken the gaming world by surprise over the last month. Developed by Embark Studios, which consists of numerous ex-DICE developers, the title has been in the works for many years after being restarted some time ago. While the studio found moderate success with its first shooter, The Finals, which still continues to receive new content updates regularly, nobody anticipated that Embark’s newest game would soar to more than 481,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. Its achievement of becoming one of Steam’s most played games was already massively impressive, but it becomes even more astonishing when you take into account that it has launched sandwiched between Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7, two of the biggest shooters of the year.

ARC Raiders Finally Fixes Locked Door Exploit
The core gameplay loop, friendly community, and unique ARC enemies are just some of the reasons Embark has found so much success with its latest title. Another important factor is the steady stream of updates ARC Raiders has received in its first month on the market. The game’s most recent patch, known as update 1.4.0, is available now on all supported platforms, with some vital fixes and improvements. According to the official patch notes, which can be found further down this article, the latest update finally adds “exploit mitigation mechanisms” for all locked rooms across all maps. While the exploit is still possible to do, players who glitch their way into a locked room will be met with a prompt death, as the room will quickly fill with flames.
For those who might be unaware, the locked door exploit in ARC Raiders has been a huge talking point over the last few weeks. Essentially, players were glitching their way into locked rooms, even when they didn’t have a key. There were multiple ways that this was being achieved, but the most popular way was by running into the door while another player ran into you from behind, which would phase the first player through the door and into the room. They could then unlock the door from the other side and allow their teammates to enter the room and loot the valuable gear and items inside.
Although it might seem harmless, in an extraction shooter like ARC Raiders, looting is a huge part of the gameplay loop, which made this exploit massively controversial. Players who were attempting to gain access legitimately were not only putting their gear on the line whenever they entered a raid, but they were also risking losing their hard-earned keys, only to find rooms had already been looted by those making use of the exploit. Thankfully, this shouldn’t be a problem anymore and will allow players to head Topside without any concerns that locked rooms have been looted illegitimately.
Update 1.4.0 also has a handful of other important improvements, such as a fix for an exploit that was allowing players to shoot the Il Toro shotgun, one of ARC Raiders‘ best weapons for PvP, quicker than intended. Players were achieving this by equipping the Il Toro and then switching to a Quick Use item, such as a Bandage or Shield Recharger, in between shots. The glitch was removing the reload animation on the weapon and allowing players to get off incredibly fast shots with one of the most powerful weapons in the game.
