High on Life 2 Nipulon Bounty Walkthrough Guide

By newsgame

The High on Life 2 Nipulon bounty is the final mission in the game, and it sees you come up against Rhea Pharmaceuticals’ CEO once again before you can clear your name and free humanity from the evil medical company. The bounty includes several sections, including a court hearing that takes into account the decisions you made in the story up to this point, and a Nipulon boss fight during which most of your High on Life 2 guns play a starring role. So, here’s how to succeed every step of the way in this final bounty.

You can’t take the lift to James Stevenson’s flat in High on Life 2, so you’re going to have to go the long way round.

You start your final bounty by sleeping in your bed back in your Quarters. However, make sure you’ve bought or acquired any upgrades you want to before resting up, because you won’t have another chance before the final credits. You’re still able to explore hub areas like Circuit Arcadia and Pinkline Harbor once you’ve beaten the game, and take part in activities like fishing and going to the Liquid Nights nightclub, but you won’t be able to upgrade your gear before facing Nipulon after this point.

If you’re happy to proceed, sleep in your bed and head to the outskirts of Rhea Pharma — Gene and Lizzie take you there automatically once you approach the RV in your Quarters. Climb the stairs away from the protest towards the Rhea Pharma exterior. The area is suspiciously empty, so just head inside to start your search for the CEO.

Watch out for snipers at the higher level of the area, opposite the door you came in. You’ll face quite a few enemies at this stage of the mission, and you’ll often need to keep an eye up high for foes with long-range weaponry, use cover, and keep moving on your skateboard.

Unfortunately, the lack of security doesn’t last. Once you enter, Nipulon tells everyone in the building that the outlaw with a large bounty on their head has just entered, at which point you’re attacked by bounty hunters. Once you’ve defeated those waves of enemies, you split off from Lizzie and enter the elevator up to the top of the building. That is, until you realize you need a High Security Keycard before you can go all the way up.

Since you’re now only as high as the fifth floor, you’ll need to fight through more rooms and enemies to progress your objective. You can use your Info Scanner if you get lost on the way. When you’re in the same room as the enemy holding the keycard you need, Gene will let you know on your radio. You’ll need to pick up the keycard from his corpse and defeat all remaining enemies before the door to the elevators opens.

That said, before you can get to Nipulon, your lift stops on a lower floor where you pick up another employee. Guards mistake them for the outlaw and kill them. All you need to do is defend yourself and get back into the lift. Next, the elevator takes you to a room with more waves of enemies and a mini-boss. Once they’re cleared, you’re ready to move on to the next stage of the bounty.

How to Complete the Court Hearing

Now, it’s up to you to defend the rights of humans, and your decisions as an outlaw, in the Supreme Space Court. There are several ways in which this can play out, but the basic premise is that, if you want to win the case, you’ll need to call witnesses, object when prompted, and answer questions.

This approach is pretty time-consuming and there are no rewards for winning the case. In fact, all avenues lead to the final battle with Super Nipulon, so you may choose to skip the proceedings entirely. You can do this by:

  • Shooting Nipulon when you get the chance.
  • Scrunching up paper in front of you and throwing it into the basketball hoop to the left of the judge enough times to get the judge to rule in your favor, purely based on your jump shot abilities.
  • Not swiping Peter with Knifey to object to Nipulon’s request to end the hearing early.

You only get an achievement in this section (Kobe!) by throwing paper into the hoop, so go for this approach if you’re interested in fully completing the game as efficiently as possible.

How to Beat the Super Nipulon Boss Fight in High on Life 2

The first phase of the boss fight takes place in the courtroom itself. Nipulon moves pretty rapidly, so it’s a good idea to make liberal use of Sweezy’s Time Bubble Trick Shot, or Bowie’s time-slowing Soul Hole. It’s also worth making the most of your environment on your skateboard and regularly using dashes to dodge incoming projectiles. You can also use the cameras on the ground as projectiles with the Gravity Gun-style weapon you built with which to escape prison.

That said, this portion of the fight doesn’t take up much of the overall battle: once Nipulon has lost little more than a fifth of his health bar, the next phase of the battle kicks off. At this point, he forcibly injects you with the drug developed by Rhea Pharma from humans: Humanzapro.

This sends you into a trance in which you ride your skateboard through a series of linear environments while dodging Nipulon’s attacks and other obstacles, and firing off some of your own in reply. You’ll need to use your skateboard on grind rails and make many jumps, but if you fail you’re never put back far from where you fell.

In this section of the boss fight, you’ll need to make use of all the guns you acquired over the course of the main story. Naturally, that doesn’t include the B.A.L.L. Gun, since that’s an optional and missable unlock. When a certain gun is required, your character automatically switches to it.

During the on-rails section of the boss fight, you’ll be awarded the ‘Romanced All 34 Erotic Worm Monsters’ achievement, which the description says takes “over 100 hours.” This is just a satirical joke aimed at the kinds of achievements that exist in other games, and Nipulon awards it to you during the fight based on how it’ll look on your account, just like in the first game.

While you’re navigating obstacles and Nipulon’s attacks, and negotiating your environments, try to deal as much damage to the CEO as much as you safely can. Once enough damage has been dealt, Nipulon will lay down in your path, giving you an opportunity to slash him with Knifey.

Each time this happens, Nipulon recovers and injects you with more Humanzapro. You’ll also get new environments, such as a Prismeria-themed course, with you automatically switching to new guns with particular abilities that you need to progress. Once you’ve dealt enough damage to Nipulon and used Knifey on him enough times, you’ll win the fight.

With Nipulon defeated, you’re returned to the Spaceforest Café (you may have played Hide and Seek with Jeppy just outside here) where you can chat with the characters you met during your adventure. Here, you may get different endings depending on how thoroughly you explored the game’s side hubs, such as if you complete High on Life 2’s escape rooms.

When you’re ready to leave, you’ll get the game’s credits and be let back into the world to tick off any side objectives and explore any areas you might have missed.
