All Letters from 1998 Locations in RE9

By newsgame

Letters from 1998 are Deluxe Edition collectible files in Resident Evil Requiem. Players can start looking for them once the story shifts to Leon’s section in Raccoon City. These files are scattered across several areas of the city, meaning players will need to explore carefully while progressing through the main objectives to reach later locations.

Since collecting every letter rewards players with a useful charm, it is worth keeping an eye out for them during Leon’s segments. Missing one can mean backtracking or losing the reward entirely, so tracking them all down during your first run of Resident Evil 9 is highly recommended.

From Meryl to Mommy Location #1

The first letter appears very early during Leon’s time in Raccoon City. After the opening cutscene, walk straight ahead and turn right to find the entrance to the Applegate Hotel. The main route forward is through the revolving gate, but before heading there, check the red sofa to the right. The letter will be lying on top of it.

To reach the second letter, progress through the story until you are working on finding the detonator parts. Continue playing until you leave the Underground Parking Garage after collecting the two batteries needed to power the shutters. Once you exit the garage and watch the short cutscene after turning left, head straight toward the Gas Station ahead. Shoot down the ladder to enter the area and go inside the building. Here, a zombie will lunge at you. After dealing with it, check the nearby shelf where the letter is placed.

From Meryl to Mommy Location #3

The third letter becomes available after you complete Leon’s RPD section and the Orphanage flashback sequence. Once you exit the RPD building, continue forward until you reach Gun Shop Kendo. Move ahead to the nearby save point. Right next to it is a parked car, and the letter can be found inside the dashboard.

From Meryl to Mommy Location #4

For the fourth letter, head back toward the RPD area. Instead of taking the path that leads inside the station, turn right to find a route that goes down toward the underground parking garage. Just before reaching the garage entrance, look to the left for a parked car. The letter is located near the trunk.

From Meryl to Mommy Location #5

After collecting the previous four letters, return to Gun Shop Kendo and take the alleyway on the right side. As you move through the alley, you will be able to interact with a pair of shoes on the ground. Continue forward to find the final letter nearby.

Once all five letters are collected, you can grab the R.P.D. Charm located ahead. This charm increases firepower when your health is low and can be equipped on any weapon.
