Counting Mortal Kombat 1 and Dead by Daylight, There Have Been 21 Ghostface Killers

Every movie in the Scream franchise ends with a big twist where the identities of the Ghostface killer or killers are revealed. The movies have featured 16 Ghostface killers by themselves, but even more were introduced in the TV series and through Ghostface’s appearances in video games. Mortal Kombat 1 specifically adds two more Ghostface killers to the mix, while Dead by Daylight has its own Ghostface killer as well. Between Mortal Kombat 1, Dead by Daylight, the movies, and the TV show, there have been 21 Ghostface killers and counting.

Scream 7 premiered in theaters on February 27 and was an instant commercial success. While Scream 7 reviews make it the lowest-rated entry in the slasher franchise to date, the film has enjoyed a great deal of success at the box office. At the time of this writing, Scream 7 has grossed an impressive $111 million at the box office against a $45 million budget.

With Scream 7 bringing the franchise back to the forefront, there has been a lot of debate about the best Ghostface killers. Most of the focus is on the Ghostface killers featured in the Scream movies, but new killers have been introduced elsewhere as well, with Mortal Kombat 1 and Dead by Daylight having their own Ghostface killers. Franchise fans that have only watched the movies may be interested in learning the identities of all the Ghostface killers the franchise has seen so far.

Every Ghostface Killer in Mortal Kombat 1

We know for certain that one of the Ghostface killers in Mortal Kombat 1 is Billy Loomis, the killer in the first movie. But there are hints in Mortal Kombat 1 that suggest that legacy characters Kira and Kobra are the other two under the Ghostface mask in the game (dialogue also hints at Scream 1‘s Stu potentially being featured as well).

The Mortal Kombat 1 Ghostface killers can perform attacks associated with Kira and Kobra, who haven’t been fully playable in a Mortal Kombat game since 2006’s Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Dead by Daylight has its own Ghostface killer, Danny Johnson aka Jed Olsen, who is a freelance reporter that nightlights as a serial killer.

With the release of Scream 7, there are now 16 Ghostface killers that come from the movies. Billy Loomis and Stu Macher are the killers in Scream 1, while Scream 2 featured Nancy Loomis and Mickey Altieri. Scream 3 only had one Ghostface killer, Roman Bridger, while Jill Roberts and Charlie Walker were the killers in Scream 4. Scream (2022) featured Richie Kirsch and Amber Freeman, while Scream 6 started with Jason Carvey, who was quickly killed off and replaced by Wayne Bailey, Quinn Bailey, and Ethan Landry.

Scream 7 once again has three Ghostface killers, with Karl Gibbs killed off about halfway through the movie, and the big finale revealing Jessica Bowden and Marco Davis as the other two killers.

Every Ghostface Killer from the Scream TV Show

The Scream TV show initially did not feature the iconic Ghostface, but the third season of the show brought the costume back. The two Ghostface killers that season were Beth and Jamal Elliot.
