What Is Anansi’s Well in The Sims 4?

Anansi’s Well is located in the Dambele district of Ondarion, near the Zanbira Market, more precisely on the other side of the aqueduct. Players can examine the well to learn more about its legend. It will let them know that they will be rewarded if they are able to complete its challenges, but if they fail, they will also be punished for their mistakes.

Besides initiating the trials, players can also interact with the well to ask for Anansi’s advice for only 1 Simoleon. Lastly, players can start the trials, which are divided into four parts: Weave the Story, Offer a Secret, Spin the Web, and Fulfill the Thread.

Anansi’s First Trial: Weave a Story

Considering that secrets and scandals are a major part of Royalty and Legacy, many players might believe that this challenge requires them to find and expose a secret. However, that is not the case.

To complete the first Anansi trial, players will simply have to initiate a conversation with a Sim and tell them a successful story. It doesn’t matter if it’s a group story, a funny story, an unbelievable story, or any kind of interaction within a Stories social tab, as long as the listeners are entertained by the player’s witty Sim, they will finish this first trial.

When players complete an Anansi trial, they will receive a positive moodlet that either gets them to feel Confident, Fine, or Focused. Besides that, when they get through the first trial, they will receive a performance boost to the next rank.

Anansi’s Second Trial: Offer a Secret

• Riddle: “Whisper what hides beneath your smile. Hold a secret too tightly and the web may twist, but share it and Anasi’s favor finds you.”
• Moodlet Clue: “[This Sim] must whisper what hides beneath their smile. Share a secret, and perhaps Anansi’s favor will be theirs.”

The title of this trial tells players exactly what they must do in order to complete it: they must share another Sim’s secret. To do this, they must first uncover someone’s secret, either by gossiping or purchasing it from the Information Broker. Then, they must directly speak to another Sim and expose this secret by talking to someone and selecting the “Share Secret About” interaction within the Gossip social tab.

Players in the Noble Career will receive a performance boost when they complete this trial, maximizing their work performance and allowing them to receive a promotion if they’ve completed their promotional tasks.

Anansi’s Third Trial: Spin the Web

• Riddle: “Weave a trick. Twist a thread. Let another stumble while you rise. Let Anansi judge if you are clever enough to dance in the web.”
• Moodlet Clue: “[This Sim] must attempt a deceitful act under Anasi’s watchful eyes. This trail will reveal if they are clever or simply tangled in folly.”

While this riddle is somewhat vague, players can get more information about what they need to do next by analyzing the moodlets that they receive while completing these trials. Players will receive a Focused Moodlet that is supposedly there to help them successfully deceive another. This makes it clear that they have to perform a deceptive interaction.

To complete the third trial, gamers have to open the Deception tab within the Mischief social menu and select any of the available interactions.

Players will not receive a performance boost in the Noble Career for completing this trial; instead, they will get a slight boost to their current favor alignment.

Anansi’s Fourth Trial: Grins with Approval

• Riddle: “Gather the words that linger in your mind, and bind them to the page. If written with excellence, it will endure gracefully in Anansi’s web.”
• Moodlet Clue: “Anansi poses a challenge for [this Sim] to write a book worthy of remembrance. Should excellence emerge, rewards await, but if the work falters, so too might its maker.”

For three days, the player’s Sim will have a Focused moodlet booster. During this time, they must attempt to write a “book worthy of remembrance”, meaning an Excellent quality book. Sims who are able to meet these requirements within the time limit will complete the final trial.

Having a high Writing Skill will make this task a lot easier, but it isn’t mandatory. Gamers should still be able to do this after they practice writing a few times. Besides increasing their skill, players should make sure that they’re in a good mood when writing their book, as this increases their chances of producing a high-quality book.

Reward for Completing the Anansi Trials in The Sims 4

Besides the various rewards mentioned above, Sims who complete all four stages of the Anansi trials will receive the Threadshifter trait. This trait makes it possible for them to shift their preferred favor alignment in the Noble Career, however and whenever they please.

To do this, players must self-interact and select the Shift Favor interaction. After using this interaction, players must wait a bit before shifting favor again. Unfortunately, when gamers shift their favor alignment, it will not go to the exact same place on the opposite end, so they will lose some favor during the shift.

While Sims that aren’t in the Noble Career can complete the Anansi trials in The Sims 4, the temporary Confident and Focused moodlets are the only rewards that they can take advantage of during this process. All of the career-related boosts are exclusive to the Noble Career, and the Threadshifter reward trait is useless in any other career as well. Additionally, once the trials have been completed, players cannot repeat them. Therefore, if players are not currently in the Noble Career, they should skip the Anansi trials.
