Xbox Players Have Until February 9 to Play 6 Games for Free

By newsgame

Xbox has just announced that Game Pass Essential, Premium, and Ultimate subscribers can now play six games for free until February 8. These games are part of Xbox’s Free Play Days promotion, which gives players the opportunity to try out a handful of games for free and purchase them at a discounted rate.

Free Play Days has been one of Xbox’s more consistent promotions for quite some time now, and 2026 has already seen Xbox host three separate instances of Free Play Days. The most recent one occurred on January 29, giving all Xbox users, even those without a Game Pass subscription, access to Fallout 76, For Honor, Dead by Daylight, and Grounded 2. Two weeks before that, Xbox hosted an EA Free Play Days takeover, offering limited-time trials for Madden NFL 26, FC 26, College Football 26, NHL 26, F1 25, UFC 5, and PGA Tour.

This week, it’s 2K’s turn to commandeer Xbox’s Free Play Days. A total of six games are available to download and play for free with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, all of which have been published by 2K or one of its subsidiaries. While 2K sports games make up half of the list, this week’s Free Play Days line-up also includes an acclaimed roguelike action game, a beloved strategy game, and an arcade-y LEGO racer.

NBA 2K26 released back in September 2025 and is undoubtedly the headliner of this Xbox Free Play Days roster. It earned an 81 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic with 89% of critics recommending the game. Though reviews acknowledged that NBA 2K26 is still very much another iteration of the long-standing basketball franchise, they also stated its on-court gameplay feels better than ever in this entry. Those wanting to keep playing NBA 2K26 past February 8 can pick up the game on the Xbox Store for $23.09, reduced from its usual price of $69.99.

Released in February 2025, PGA Tour 2K25 earned exactly the same Top Critic Average on OpenCritic as NBA 2K26. But unlike NBA 2K26, PGA Tour 2K25 was praised for taking some bigger swings with the series’ usual formula. After taking a three-year break in between entries, PGA Tour 2K25 returned with refreshed mechanics, deeper customization, better visuals, and a variety of game modes to enjoy. Until February 8, Xbox players can purchase PGA Tour 2K25 for $27.99 instead of $69.99.

TopSpin 2K25 first released in April 2024 and is the first entry in the tennis game series since 2011’s Top Spin 4. While TopSpin 2K25 didn’t quite live up to the heights of its 2000s predecessors, it still earned a 75 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic, with 63% of critics recommending the game. Many critics praised TopSpin‘s moment-to-moment gameplay but found the package as a whole a bit barebones. TopSpin 2K25 is down to $14.99 on the Xbox Store, just $5 off its usual $19.99 price.

LEGO 2K Drive received a similarly mixed reception upon its May 2023 launch, currently sitting at a 73 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic with just 46% of critics recommending it. LEGO 2K Drive is on sale for $11.99, down from $29.99. On the other end of the critical spectrum, Risk of Rain 2 and Civilization 6 are also included in Xbox’s Free Play Days February line-up. These games are often considered some of the best of their respective genres, and Xbox users can pick them up for $6.24 and $5.99 respectively.
