How to Get Plankton and Snake-Reed in Hades 2

Hades 2 has many different resources for players to gather, which can help them on their quest as Melinoë to take down the Titan of Time. One of these is Plankton, a type of seed which can be used to get the far more useful Snake-Reed. However, they aren’t quite as easy to get as some players might have hoped. In this guide, I’ll explain how to get Plankton and Snake-Reed in Hades 2, so you can use them to your advantage.

In Hades 2, waking up Hypnos is at least partially possible as of the Olympic Update, which added a new rousing Incantation.

How to Get Plankton in Hades 2

As noted above, Plankton is a seed that can only be obtained from Digging Spots in the Summit. Given that this is a late-game area, chances are you’ve already got the Silver Spade you need to dig up resources from Digging Spots.

If you haven’t got the Silver Spade, you first need to get the Pick, which is unlocked with one Moly and the Incantation Night’s Craftwork. Once this is unlocked, you can get the Spade with 10 silver.

It’s worth noting that just because you’ve made it to the Summit of Mt. Olympus, it doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get Plankton. It’s a relatively rare drop, so you might need to do a few runs before you find a Digging Spot that you can use your Silver Spade on. This makes getting Plankton even trickier, given it can take a good while to reach the Summit in the first place.

You can improve your chances of stumbling upon resources depending on the Familiar you’ve selected. For Plankton, you want to choose Hecuba, and the ‘Attending a Faithful Beat’ incantation will increase the chance of finding your Familiar’s resource type by 10%.

How to Get Snake-Reed in Hades 2

Now that you’ve got Plankton, return to the Crossroads and use the Flourishing Soil incantation to create soil plots. This requires six Moly and craft them at the Cauldron.

Once you’ve planted the Plankton in the soil, you need to wait 77 Whiles before it’s ready to harvest. A ‘While’ will pass after completing a room, fishing at the docks, using the hot springs in the Crossroads, or drinking Ambrosia at the taverna.

What is Snake-Reed Used for in Hades 2?

Snake-Reed can be used for a number of different things, primarily activating incantations at the Cauldron, and unlocking the Aspect of Hel for the Argent Skull at The Silver Pool. It can also be used to unlock the Wagon, Soothsayer’s Decoration for the Crossroads Renewal Project from Dora, and can be sold to the Wretched Broker for 140 Kudos each.

Greatest Gift of Gaia: Grants the power to automatically harvest any resource in each Location whenever you exit. Requires 3 Snake-Reed.
Green Hand of Gaia: Improves gathering from Soil Plots so that you harvest all flourished Soil Plots at the same time. Requires 1 Snake-Reed.
Path to Desired Blessings: Allows you to track offering requirements when viewing Boons in the Book of Shadows. Requires 2 Snake-Reed.
