Highguard Reveals 2026 Roadmap

By newsgame

Highguard features an ambitious Year 1 post-launch roadmap, as developer Wildlight Entertainment showcases its plans to release new episodes and content on a monthly basis. There’s been a lot of curiosity surrounding Highguard after its announcement back in December 2025, with many fans wondering just what it was. What appeared to be another hero shooter based on its debut trailer, things have seemingly evolved somewhat as fans finally got more information on what a Raid shooter actually is, supported by a huge DLC schedule.

It’s been a strange road for Highguard over the past month. While originally featured as the final reveal at the 2025 Game Awards, Wildlight Entertainment then went silent over the next month, an odd choice considering that the newly revealed Highguard had a locked-in January 26, 2026, launch date. The silence left fans wondering if Highguard was due for a delay, though the bigger problem was seemingly the relative lack of details about how the game played or the marketing to drum up enthusiasm prior to launch. However, things appear to have turned out relatively well following its release, despite the bizarre marketing methods.

Highguard Reveals Ambitious DLC Plans

Considering Wildlight is made up of former Respawn developers who worked on games like Titanfall and Apex Legends, it seems the studio intended to follow a similar release pattern by revealing the game and launching it at the same time. The studio released a new Highguard Showcase set on the same day as the game’s launch, which revealed a ton of new details while also performing a deep dive into the Raid mechanics. Following the event, Highguard was made available to the masses.

Things have seemingly gotten off to an impressive start as Highguard has seen a rising player count on places like Steam, despite the currently mixed reviews. As a free-to-play title, Highguard confirmed an ambitious plan to keep players invested in the game’s universe, revealing a roadmap that aims to add new content every month over the current year. The Year 1 plan involves new episodes, which are planned to be released in two parts and last around 2 months. Episode 2 kicks off in February, with part 2 launching in March. The plan is to introduce a total of 7 episodes in 2026 alone, though the narrative element is only the start of Highguard‘s DLC plans.

Each month, along with the next part of the episode, will introduce a variety of new content into the game, such as new Wardens, weapons, mounts, bases to select, and more. For example, February will add a new map, Warden, mount, and allow players to take part in Ranked Mode if they want. Part 2, which arrives in March, will continue to add to the game with a new base and raid tool. All in all, players can expect to see 6 Wardens, 5 bases, 3 maps, and much more throughout 2026. The roadmap even teases a few surprises and limited-time game modes later in the year.

However, large-scale downloadable content isn’t the only updates that Highguard players should expect to see from the live service title. Naturally, Highguard will also evolve over time through updates and patches, adjusting gameplay and fixing bugs through player feedback. In fact, Highguard received its first post-launch update a day after it launched, which was pushed out to quickly address stability and crashing issues some players have been running into. However, the announcement also came with a promise from Wildlight Entertainment that the studio was currently investigating other issues and is expecting to release more patches as the week rolls on.
