Fable Leak Reveals Big Open World for Upcoming Reboot
Thanks to a new leak, a wealth of concept art for Fable has just found its way online. There are 29 leaked images in total, with most of them teasing Fable‘s large open world and a handful of key locations inside of it.
A long-awaited revival of the fantasy action-RPG series originally birthed by Lionhead Studios, Fable was first officially announced in July 2020, though rumors of its existence had first surfaced two years prior when Eurogamer reported that Forza Horizon developer Playground Games was tasked with reviving the franchise. The last time fans saw Playground’s Fable was during the 2024 Xbox Showcase, where it was given a 2025 release window that would eventually be pushed back by Head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan.

Leaked Fable Concept Art Reveals Bloodstone and More
In just two days’ time (January 22), fans will get to see Fable once more, with it officially confirmed for the Xbox Developer Direct. But ahead of its “first extended look,” Fable has just suffered a sizable leak. A new report from MP1st showcases almost 30 leaked pieces of concept art that allegedly came from the portfolio of an artist that worked on Fable. While these leaked images showcase locations that fans haven’t seen in full yet, MP1st does state that it couldn’t verify the origin dates of the illustrations, which means that they’re not necessarily representative of the final product. With that in mind, fans should take the following information with a big pinch of salt.
The vast majority of these leaked Fable concept illustrations revolve around a location believed to be called ‘Bloodstone,’ if an in-universe signpost in one image is any indication. Based on these images, Bloodstone will likely be a major location in Fable, with it seemingly being a large city consisting of a mighty castle, a market district, and a plethora of houses all built into the surrounding valley. Long-time Fable fans will already be familiar with the name Bloodstone, as it belongs to a pirate-infested harbor town in Fable 2 where players meet the character Reaver, who’s voiced by Stephen Fry. Though Playground has remained tight-lipped about plot and world details, it’s believed that Fable is a full reboot of the series, which would mean that this version of Bloodstone would not be the one found in Fable 2, though it could serve a similar purpose in the reboot’s story.
Another location that’s featured prominently in these leaked Fable concept illustrations is the ‘Hamlet,’ a small cluster of wooden shacks laid atop a grassy hill. MP1st believes that this location could be the protagonist’s home village, and that Fable‘s antagonist could end up flooding the location. All three mainline Fable games begin with the protagonist’s home life being disrupted in a major way, so a flood being the new Fable‘s inciting incident or a major plot point later on would make sense.
The final subject of the newly leaked Fable concept art is an underground dungeon. Several illustrations show Fable‘s protagonist mantling metallic cages and various pieces of debris in a stone-built dungeon that’s lit sparsely by torches and a few rays of sunlight breaking through the subterranean structure’s crumbling walls. One image also teases a fight with a werewolf in this same underground location. Another image also shows different concepts for treasure chest designs, with one using the original Fable‘s chest as a reference.
Fans hopefully won’t have to wait long to see how much of this leaked concept art is going to make it into Fable‘s final product. If leaked locales like Bloodstone and the Hamlet are in fact primary locations in Fable, then they’re likely to be shown in the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct.
