The most reliable way to obtain Salt Blocks in Hytale is to set up fishing traps in bodies of water, which can be crafted at a Farmer’s Workbench. Fishing traps can be placed above any lake, pond, or river in order to catch fish over time.

The main purpose of fishing traps is to catch fish, but floatsam like sea shells, sticks, linen scraps, Essence of Water, and, of course, Salt Blocks also get caught within them.

Whether or not a fishing trap will yield Salt Blocks upon activation is up to chance. Because of this, it is recommended that players place a large number of them to widen the net, so to speak.

Fishing traps can be loaded with Fish Bait (also crafted at a Farmer’s Workbench) to reduce the time it takes for the trap to activate and to catch rarer fish.
