Skill Caps, LEM Augments & True Max Level

StarRupture has a leveling system (sorts of), and players looking to unlock more LEM Augments will need to increase their proficiency in Combat, Survival, and Movement. But all that leveling up has to end somewhere, and the level cap can be tricky to identify as the game doesn’t warn you about one important detail.

So, in order to clarify things, this guide will explain how Leveling works in StarRupture, how many skills are available, which unlocks are available with the current version of the game, and, more importantly, what the true level Cap in StarRupture is.

How Leveling Works in StarRupture

How does Leveling Work in Star Rupture All Skills Combat Movement Survival

Leveling in StarRupture happens the same way for every character in the game, meaning there’s no real difference (in the current version of the game) if players pick the Soldier or the Biologist. What really matters is that players will increase their level of proficiency in Combat, Survival, and Movement, gaining experience in those three fields and unlocking LEM Augment Slots once every few levels.

Combat experience is gained by eliminating Vermin and surviving large-scale raids on the base.
Survival experience is gained by collecting plants, mining meteorites or Ignitium, and surviving Rupture Waves.
Movement experience is gained by moving around, exploring, running, climbing, sliding, and jumping.

Once players reach the first milestone at level 10, they will be able to equip a LEM Augment by visiting a LEM Station (unlocked by reaching Faction Level 4 with Future Health Solutions).

LEM Augment Slots are unlocked at levels: 10, 25 (20 in the case of combat), 40 (35 in combat), 65, 85, and 100. Each skill can be leveled up to a maximum of 100, but there’s a catch: There is an actual Level Cap hidden and the only way to figure it out is to unlock one of the crafting stations in the game.

What is the True Level Cap in StarRupture? (Early Access)

As mentioned before, from the 100 Levels each Skill has, only 45 Levels are available in the current version of the game. That means that the true level cap for each skill is 45, making it impossible to unlock all LEM Augment slots in the game.

At the moment of writing this guide, only 3 LEM Augment Slots are available per skill, from the maximum of 6 Per Skill that should be available when the devs fully release the game.

This is indicated in a small message that only appears when players are using the LEM Station, so it’s a bit hard to notice. Some players might have gone above level 45 in terms of experience, but notice that they cannot level up, so that’s the deal: At the moment, there’s no way to level beyond that cap.

If players want to fully unlock the potential of their characters, they will need to wait until future patches in the game unlock more content, and, as mentioned before, StarRupture is still on Early Access, so, understandably, some features in the game are still locked. Still, with so much content available and a huge map to explore (besides the tons of structures to build) players can sit tight and enjoy the ride before the final version of the game is released.
