By newsgame

As players explore the Rosymorn Monastery in Baldur’s Gate 3, they may encounter a puzzle that centers around a large stained-glass window that is surrounded by four pedestals. To solve this puzzle, fans must locate two ceremonial weapons and place them (and a non-ceremonial weapon) atop the aforementioned plinths. This guide is here to assist with that endeavor, and players can find the locations of all the Rosymorn Monastery ceremonial weapons in Baldur’s Gate 3 detailed below.

Updated on December 31, 2025, by Nahda Nabiilah: While you can use the Ceremonial Weapons to complete the Dawnmaster puzzle, it’s actually not necessary. That’s because players can use any weapons as long as they are a battleaxe, mace, longsword, and warhammer. These normal weapons are acquired naturally while exploring the vast world of Baldur’s Gate 3.

The Dawnmaster Puzzle is found in the Rosymorn Monastery on the top floor. Players will inspect a stained-glass window featuring four masters to discover the solution to the puzzle. Each master is holding a weapon, and Tav must place the correct one on each altar to complete the puzzle.

Alternatively, simply approach the wall and lockpick it to immediately get the Dawnmaster’s Crest. Keep in mind that you need to pass a DC 10 Perception check to see the stone wall and a DC 30 Sleight of Hand check to open it.

Completing the puzzle in BG3 grants the Morninglord’s Radiance buff until Long Rest. This buff allows players to deal additional 1d4 Radiant damage.

Ceremonial Longsword

The Ceremonial Longsword is already on Dawmaster Welkinglory’s pedestal at (X:70 Y:77). If players are interested in the Ceremonial Longsword, they can take it and put any other longsword in its place.

Ceremonial Battleaxe

Baldur’s Gate 3 players can earn the Ceremonial Battleaxe by defeating the Guardian of Faith, a Level 7 NPC that is found beyond the Enchanted Door at (X:92 Y:45). Fans can bypass that door with a lockpick and then clear the furniture barricade with standard attacks. You can also destroy the wall on the other side and shoot the Guardian of Faith to death without approaching it. Similar to the longsword, any battleaxe will do just fine.

Ceremonial Warhammer

The Ceremonial Warhammer can be found in an eagle’s nest at (X:82 Y:39), which can be accessed by climbing the Knotted Roots that are across from the aforementioned Enchanted Door. Here are several ways to collect this ceremonial weapon without killing the eagles:

  • Distract the eagles with a Bard’s song, Minor Illusion, or another similar effect, and then steal the weapon.
  • Use an Invisibility Potion, grab the ceremonial weapon, and then escape with a spell like Misty Step.
  • Use
    Mage Hand
to move the weapon while the party remains at a safe distance.

If the eagles are too much for you, especially in honour mode, Tav can use other warhammers on the altar.

Mace

While not a ceremonial weapon, players will need a mace to solve the stained-glass window puzzle. While any mace seems to do the job, there is a Rusty Mace nearby that players can definitely use, and here are details on how to get that Baldur’s Gate 3 weapon:

  • Head south past the Enchanted Door, where the Ceremonial Battleaxe was found.
  • Pass through the door on the left, and jump down the broken staircase that is beyond.
  • At the bottom of the stairs, break through the barricade in the northwest corner of the room (X:97 Y:46).
  • Go left after the barricade.
  • The Rusty Mace is on the ground at (X:85 Y:32).

Another Rusty Mace can be acquired from the Dawnmaster’s grave. From the Guardian of Faith’s location, head down the stairs and jump to the ground to the left. Climb the small hill and dig up the grave to find a coffin (X:127 Y:-8). Inside is a rusty mace as well as a letter revealing that this is the grave of the original Dawnmaster, who was buried with his Ceremonial Mace.

The Ceremonial Mace that was stolen from the coffin can be looted from a Kobold Looter in the Firewine storage room (X: 45 Y: 37). But the rusty mace or any other mace will get the job done if players don’t feel like going around the area or fighting enemies.

What to Do with Ceremonial Weapons In Baldur’s Gate 3

With the weapons in hand, players are ready to solve the associated puzzle. To do this, fans should make their way to the stained-glass window in the room at (X:74 Y:68) and perform these actions:

  • Throw the Ceremonial Battleaxe on top of Dawnmaster Vaseid’s pedestal at X:74 Y:69.
  • Throw the Ceremonial Warhammer on top Dawnmaster Seed’s pedestal at X:77 Y:75.
  • Throw the mace on top of Dawnmaster Stockhold’s pedestal at X:75 Y:71.

Upon placing the final weapon, an opening will appear in the wall at X:74 Y:75, revealing a pouch. Inside this pouch, fans will find a note to the next Dawnmaster as well as the Dawnmaster’s Crest. For those players who are curious, this item can be used during the acquisition of Baldur’s Gate 3‘s Blood of Lathander, though it is possible to obtain that legendary mace without ever collecting the crest.
