Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is finally here, and with it comes a brand-new cast of characters, with one of the most intriguing being Emma Kagan. As CEO of The Guild, Emma Kagan’s role in Black Ops 7 is incredibly important, and actor Kiernan Shipka is the one responsible for bringing her to life.
Kiernan Shipka isn’t the only famous actor who was cast to play one of Black Ops 7‘s many intriguing characters. Alongside her, Milo Ventimiglia, Michael Rooker, and John Eric Bentley also round out the cast. However, Emma Kagan and her role at The Guild is one of the most intriguing aspects of Black Ops 7, and for players trying to figure out where exactly they’ve seen her face before, there are a lot of possibilities, as Shipka has been acting for years.
Emma Kagan is One of Many Roles Kiernan Shipka is Known For
Mad Men
- Kiernan Shipka played Don Draper’s daughter, Sally, for eight years.
Even though Shipka was a young child when she was first cast as Sally Draper, this is still one of the main roles she’s recognized for. Mad Men was a pop culture phenomenon, and getting to be part of such a historic show at that early of an age got Shipka’s career off to an incredibly strong start. Black Ops 7 is vastly different from the retro nostalgia-filled world of Mad Men‘s ruthless ad executives, but it’s a fun example of just how diverse Shipka’s career has been.
Kiernan Shipka was only six years old when she was cast as Sally.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina put Shipka in the driver’s seat, as she took on the lead role of a series that would become quite successful. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was adapted from the Sabrina the Teenage Witch comics, and it ran for four seasons on Netflix. Kiernan Shipka even had cameo appearances as Sabrina in special crossover episodes of Riverdale, as the two comic series are set in the same universe. This new Call of Duty entry may not involve witchcraft, but Black Ops 7 dives deep into mind-bending and psychologically-charged themes.
Kiernan Shipka isn’t the only actor in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to make their way over to video games. Tati Gabrielle played Prudence Night, and she’s set to take on the lead role of Jordan A. Mun in Naughty Dog’s upcoming sci-fi adventure Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
The Silence
Essentially Netflix’s version of A Quiet Place, The Silence takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where Earth is under attack by monsters that track their prey by sound. While The Silence and A Quiet Place sound incredibly similar to one another, the former stands apart with its subplot of a religious cult that is trying to take advantage of main character Ally and her deafness. Shipka has a long history with horror, and while Black Ops 7‘s action-packed military-focused drama is a change of pace, the thought of a futuristic tech and weapons manufacturer like The Guild is terrifying in a completely different way.
Longlegs
Continuing the theme of Shipka’s long relationship with horror, Longlegs is also on her resume. Although her role in Longlegs is small, the character of Carrie Anne Camera is one of the most important plot points in the story, serving as the key to the dark mystery unraveled throughout the film. Emma Kagan looks a lot different from the withdrawn, institutionalized Carrie Anne Camera, demonstrating Shipka’s impressive range.
Twisters
Shipka had a busy 2024, with Longlegs and Twisters releasing in theaters within a week of each other. Both were summer hits, making last year one of Shipka’s most successful years at the box office. Black Ops 7 is expected to rake in some impressive sales, so Shipka is bound to have another successful year, even if it isn’t technically at the box office.
The Last Showgirl
This is one of Kiernan’s Shipka’s most recent recognizable roles, as The Last Showgirl got a theatrical release earlier this year in January. Starring alongside Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brenda Song, and Dave Bautista, The Last Showgirl offered Shipka a break from her horror streak and allowed her a chance to flex her drama muscles again. Black Ops 7 fans can expect many features, and there’s bound to be plenty of drama in the campaign’s Guild-focused story, so it will be exciting to see Shipka step into another dramatic role.
This list is Kiernan Shipka’s most notable roles, but they’re far from her only ones. Beyond that, Shipka has also been in Red One, Carriers, Totally Killer, White House Plumbers, The Blackcoat’s Daugher, and Sweethearts.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s Bold Leap Into the Future Could Make or Break It
Ever since the first trailer for Black Ops 7 was revealed, the game has definitely been a bit divisive. Now that the launch weekend has arrived, only time will tell what the initial feedback is. Characters like Emma Kagan and David Mason are teasing a psychologically heavy story, and it can hopefully stick the landing. A powerful tech company expanding its reach into weapons manufacturing and surveillance doesn’t seem that too far off from being reality, and it could give Black Ops 7 the chance to highlight some fascinating moral dilemmas.
Black Ops 7‘s main rival, Battlefield 6, has had a strong first month, and while the latter’s franchise has yet to topple a Call of Duty launch, many are wondering if this could be the year. Of course, that remains to be seen, but thanks to Black Ops 7‘s impressive star power with actors like Kiernan Shipka, Milo Ventimiglia, and Michael Rooker, it’s clear that Activision is going even bigger this time around. Of course, Hollywood actors aren’t indicators of a successful game, but it will definitely be exciting to see what this cast does to make Black Ops 7 stand out not only from Battlefield 6, but past Call of Duty installments, as well.
