The LEGO Spider-Man 3 Set for January 2026 Punches Above Its Weight, and It’s Worth More Than Its Asking Price
For the most part, Spider-Man has experienced tremendous success on the big screen, making him an ideal candidate for some licensed LEGO sets. The first two Tobey Maguire films are beloved since many fans grew up with them, with the suit and music both being iconic. Andrew Garfield’s films may have been flawed, but they had their strengths, such as Peter’s quips being on-point and the Gwen Stacy story hitting hard. Then there’s the immensely successful Tom Holland films, which have made great use of all the opportunities the MCU provides. With all this in mind, it’s a bit odd that LEGO has chosen Spider-Man 3 for its next set, though it makes more sense the closer fans look.
Making Spider-Man 3 appealing had to be a tough task even for the creative minds at the LEGO Group, as it’s by far the least popular Spider-Man film ever released. Studio interference led to an overly busy movie with too much going on, as there were three villains for Peter Parker to deal with. None of these plots felt particularly satisfying, with only Sandman coming close, as the New Goblin and Venom arcs were terribly rushed. Add on Peter and MJ’s relationship being more frustrating than ever, some hilariously weird dancing from an emo Peter Parker corrupted by the Symbiote, and a major miscasting for Venom, and it’s no wonder this film was a disappointment. Yet these issues are smoothly dodged by the new LEGO set 76334 Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman, and when considering the price tag, it even manages to be a must-buy.
Per brickfanatics, this Spider-Man 3 set releases on January 1, 2026.
Like the Name Suggests, Sandman Steals the Show
The set in question focuses on the three-way battle that serves as the finale of Spider-Man 3, featuring decor directly from the film. The black webbing left behind by Venom, which ties together lights and beams, is present, as is a sandy base with a label of the scene in question. However, the coolest thing about the set is the way it captures the shapeshifting villain Peter Parker had to do battle with. As fans of the divisive film (or any other Spider-Man media, really) will be aware, Sandman can grow to be incredibly massive if he comes into contact with large piles of sand, making him far harder for the wall-crawler to manage. This is exactly what happened at the end of Spider-Man 3, and by extension, it’s what the set represents.
The version of Sandman that’s part of this set isn’t just a mini-figure, as he doubles as a massive prop that makes up a good chunk of the display. He has his own base and several lopsided pieces to stack up, reflecting his increase in size, while some huge sand claws cover his hands. Though a mini-figure is technically present, as his chest and head are the usual dimensions for LEGO figures, all these attachments make him a big centerpiece instead of a small part of the set. Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man being represented via a traditional mini-figure (the same one seen in the previous sets based on the Raimi movies) only makes Sandman’s scale more impressive, and putting together the large version of Flint Marko should prove to be plenty of fun.
Venom is This LEGO Set’s Secret Weapon
However, to properly capture this three-way clash, Venom is needed. Fortunately, LEGO fans hoping to see him are getting their wish, as he’s also included as part of the set. What’s particularly interesting about this mini-figure is that black suit Spider-Man has been sought after by LEGO collectors for ages, as only custom versions of Peter in his Symbiote suit exist. Since Venom’s lackluster Spider-Man 3 design was basically the black Spidey suit, just with a monstrous alien head in place of Peter’s mask, this mini-figure will be perfect for custom LEGO creators. Now, they only need a black mask to swap out for Venom’s, with potential swaps ranging from the Far From Home Stealth Suit mask to Spider-Man Noir. For those just looking for Venom, though, this mini-figure gets the job done, as his toothy mouth is on full display.
Some tendrils are also included that can be attached to the back of the Venom mini-figure, which is a nice touch that fans of the Lethal Protector will undoubtedly appreciate.
What Makes LEGO’s Epic Battle: Spider-Man vs. Sandman Set a Must-Buy
With three LEGO mini-figures, one of which has extra bells and whistles and another that has been highly sought after, this package is already impressive. However, when builders see the price tag, they’ll likely stop seeing the flaws from Spider-Man 3 and will only see a cool Spidey-themed package for a shockingly low price. This brand-new LEGO set is only $24.99 USD, and when looking at everything it includes, it’s shocking that it’s being sold for such a low cost. The full list of features for this Spider-Man vs. Sandman (vs. Venom) set is as follows:
- 201 pieces
-
3 mini-figures
- A special version of Sandman that can be built up to be quite large
- A webbing attachment for Spider-Man and tendrils for Venom that create the illusion of a fight
- A scene featuring bent lamp posts, scaffolding, and webbing as decor
- A labeled black display base
This package will be retired on December 31, 2027, which could make it into one of many rare LEGO sets.
While a 201-piece set will only keep LEGO fans occupied for about an hour, the friendly neighborhood hero’s fight against these Spider-Man 3 villains doubling as a stunning display makes it more attractive. Not only will the full build look great and be something worth leaving up, but it’s hard to deny the value, as this particular set is larger and more detailed than other sets boasting a similar price tag. Sure, it may be an homage to a film that few Marvel fans celebrate, but it looks phenomenal nonetheless. And with it having some cool advantages for hardcore collectors, like a hard-to-come-by transformed Sandman or a Venom design that’s a proper step toward a black suit mini-figure, this impressive set is absolutely worth a pre-order. After years of waiting, LEGO Group is finally wrapping up its homages to the Raimi trilogy, and it certainly looks like the final film’s set was worth the wait.
