Where to Get March of the Stalwart Soul in D4

By newsgame

Paladins have a lot of options for players who want to make strong Basic Skill builds. Advance, for example, is excellent for mobility and sustained damage, but it won’t be enough on its own. Thankfully, there are plenty of Uniques and Legendary Aspects that make skills like Advance endgame viable, and that includes the March of the Stalwart Soul, a Unique pair of boots specifically designed for buffing Advance’s overall usability on high Diablo 4 difficulty levels. Here’s what you need to know about this item.

If you need something to multiply your stats as a Paladin in Diablo 4, then the Herald of Zakarum is one of the best items you can use.

You can get this pair of boots by farming either Varshan near the Tree of Whispers, or Grigoire just south of Ked Bardu. Both are considered minor lair bosses, and to get their treasure hoard materials, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Malignant Hearts for Varshan drop from Tree of Whispers caches and Grotesque Debtors
  • Living Steel for Grigoire drops from Helltide chests and bosses

Players will need 12 of each boss material to open their respective treasure hoards.

The best way to get materials for both of these bosses is to farm Tree of Whisper bounties in active Helltide areas. However, if all you want is to concentrate your efforts on getting March of the Stalwart Soul, then look for Dungeons on the world map that have been marked by the Tree of Whispers. These usually count as 5 Grim Favors each, which means you only need to complete two dungeons to get a Whisper cache for Malignant Hearts.

March of the Stalwart Soul grants Advance three bonus Ranks, a damage multiplier of over 100%, and double the lunge distance. When combined with the usual Basic Skill Aspects like Rapid Aspect, Aspect of the Moonrise, and Aspect of Adaptability, Advance becomes more than capable of clearing high-level content. March of the Stalwart Soul also comes with the following affixes:

  • +Movement Speed
  • +Chance for Advance to Deal Double Damage
  • +Cooldown Reduction
  • +Ranks to Advance

As of writing, there seems to be a bug with March of the Stalwart Soul. Only one of the bonus Ranks to Advance from this item (either from the Unique effect or the affix) seems to apply.

Is March of the Stalwart Soul Good?

For a build focused on Advance, absolutely. It won’t be as strong as something like a Judgement build, but even with a sub-par build, it can clear Torment 3 content without much of a problem. Ironically, Advance won’t be able to trigger the Zealot Oath effect, but it can take good advantage of the Judicator Oath, which makes all Basic Skills apply Judgment to enemies.
