Epic Games Store Free Game for November 20 Is The Perfect Appetizer For a Major 2026 Game
2026 is already set to be an incredibly busy year for video game releases. Along with gigantic titles like Grand Theft Auto 6, Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, and Saros, 2026 is also going to welcome a wealth of long-awaited indie games like Mouse P.I. For Hire, Denshattack, and Reanimal. And if 2025 was any indication, 2026 is bound to be another great year for Epic Games Store freebies.
Epic Games Store users were able to claim a total of three games last week, two of which tapped into some of the most popular genres in gaming right now. Following that sizable selection, the Epic Games Store is offering just one free game on November 20, though it should act as a short and sweet appetizer ahead of one highly-anticipated early 2026 release.

Released in early access in 2017 and then given a full 1.0 launch in 2019, Slay the Spire is widely considered to be one of the best roguelike deck-builders ever made. In Slay the Spire, players become one of four distinct characters who must ascend a spire packed to the brim with hostile creatures. Combat sees players engaging in turn-based battles using a range of cards they’ve gathered during the run. Though Slay the Spire has a relatively straightforward premise, there’s a great deal of complexity behind its gameplay loop that only shines brighter the further players progress.
Back in April 2024, Slay the Spire developer Mega Crit announced that a sequel was officially in development, and that it was set to be released in early access in 2025. Back in September, Slay the Spire 2 was delayed to March 2026. Not much is known about the long-awaited sequel, though two new playable characters are confirmed to appear.
Fans have already waited six years for a Slay the Spire sequel, and although they still have a few months more to wait, the Epic Games Store free game for November 20 might offer a fun stopgap. Originally released in April 2023, Zoeti is a turn-based roguelike deck-builder that sees players using cards to eliminate enemies in combat, just like Slay the Spire. Along with its similar combat system, Zoeti also shares a similar level structure to Slay the Spire, with players choosing their route on a map with branching paths, strategizing when to engage in combat, when to avoid it, and when to upgrade their deck. Zoeti also offers three distinct characters, each coming with their own set of unique abilities.
But while Zoeti‘s general gameplay acts as the perfect introduction to Slay the Spire‘s loop, or as a way to scratch that roguelike deck-builder itch before Slay the Spire 2‘s early access launch in March 2026, the free November 20 Epic Games Store game has a few unique tricks of its own. By far its most novel twist is its use of standard playing cards during its combat. While Slay the Spire features cards with special abilities, attacks, and defenses, Zoeti‘s combat has players selecting poker hands to activate their abilities and defeat enemies, injecting a bit of Balatro‘s magic into the gameplay loop as well.
