Every Tarot Card (& What They Do)
One of the 7 Cursed Items in Phasmophobia is the deck of Tarot Cards, which includes 10 cards, each with a unique feature and mechanic that can alter the game in strange and dangerous ways for the environment, the players, and the ghost. Tarot Cards can be a rare find, and with 10 cards to both collect and use, players might want to know what the Tarot Cards do in Phasmophobia.
Phasmophobia: How to Upgrade Items And Equipment (Tier Guide)
Phasmophobia’s recent update has given players new tiers to their ghost-hunting equipment.
With 10 cards in each set of Tarot Cards, players might want to know what card they’ve just pulled, and what effect it could have. Knowing could mean the difference between life and death. Players should be warned, Tarot Cards are random, so pulling a card that guarantees death may be a risk to take.
Updated on December 23rd, 2025, by Joe Grantham: With frequent seasonal events, new maps such as Nell’s Diner, and three new ghosts to identify, there’s never been a better time to jump back into Phasmophobia, at least until the Horror 2.0 update is eventually released. If players choose to interact with any of the Cursed Possessions during this time, they will want more details on what to expect when drawing a Tarot Card in Phasmophobia.
How Do Tarot Cards Work In Phasmophobia?
There are a total of 10 Tarot Cards, and every deck has a set of 10 cards that, upon activation, will be random. This means that the deck of 10 won’t be every Tarot Card in Phasmophobia, but instead, a random chance. However, the rarity is determined by a number, so players can check here to see the chance rate they have at pulling a card and what those cards entail.
Death
The Death card will ignite with a purple flame, along with a 10% chance to draw this card. Upon activating a Death card, a cursed hunt will trigger, which means that players will have to find somewhere safe to hide from the ghost that is haunting the chosen contract, as a cursed hunt remains in place for 60 seconds.
Phasmophobia: Scariest Ghosts, Ranked
Phasmophobia is home to an array of terrifying entities; here are the scariest ghosts players can come across in the game.
The Devil
With a pink burn color, The Devil card looks as scary as it feels to use. This 10% draw chance for The Devil card makes for a fairly common pick, and upon pulling said card, players will trigger a Ghost Event towards whichever player is nearest to it. This could cause some scares, and perhaps even influence a hunt.
The Fool
There is a 17% chance to pull The Fool. This jester card has a unique effect that will often trick players. When pulling a Tarot Card, an undesirable card might be pulled, before a light purple flame ignites the card, revealing that this card was actually The Fool in disguise. The Fool has no effect and is merely to surprise the player. Players can have a 100% chance to get The Fool if they pull a card during a hunt, so if players don’t want that card, it’s best to wait for the hunt to end.
The Hanged Man
The Hanged Man is a card that players should fear the most. The Hanged Man is the rarest Tarot Card in Phasmophobia and has a pull rate of 1%. However, this doesn’t mean it’s impossible to draw. Upon drawing The Hanged Man, it’s best to say goodbye to the friends that are in the game, as the player is instantly killed by the ghost. There is no flame color for The Hanged Man, as the player will have demonic hands taken over their face to snap their neck and kill them, even if there is no hunt. There is no way to avoid a Hanged Man Tarot Card pull. Players will just have to risk the 1% pull chance.
Phasmophobia Ghost Types: All the Ghosts Players Can Encounter in the Game
There are twelve ghost types for players to hunt in Phasmophobia’s Early Access, each with their own traits, strengths, and weaknesses.
The Hermit
With a cyan burn color featured for The Hermit card, players might enjoy the use of The Hermit when pulled. This card will force the ghost back into the ghost room by teleporting it there and trapping it inside for 1 minute. This means that a roaming ghost will be forced back into its favorite room. However, this does not work during a ghost event or a ghost hunt, and The Hermit has a 10% pull rate.
The High Priestess
The second-rarest Tarot Card in Phasmophobia is The High Priestess. With a 2% draw chance, The High Priestess is perhaps the best Tarot Card in Phasmophobia and the one they are going to want to pull due to its power. With a light yellow burn color, The High Priestess will bless players by randomly reviving a dead player. However, if no one is dead, then the next player to die will be resurrected, essentially making The High Priestess card an extra life for the team.
The Moon
Players won’t want to pull this card with the white burn color. The Moon has a 5% draw chance and has an undesirable effect on players due to the fact that it will instantly drop the Sanity of the player that pulled this card to 0%. This makes them a vulnerable victim to the ghost and its hunts thanks to having 0% Sanity, which could help strengthen some ghosts.
The Sun
The opposite of The Moon, The Sun card will provide the player who pulls this card with 100% of their Sanity. This restoration of Sanity comes without the cost of Sanity Pills and can be useful in ensuring that the ghost cannot hunt at such a high Sanity. The burn color is yellow, and the draw chance is also 5%.
The Tower
With a rather common chance of 20%, The Tower card will burn blue once pulled. The Tower can be useful, but annoyingly common to get, as it will cause a ghost interaction as well as increase ghost activity for 20 seconds. This can lead to further discoveries and evidence for what the ghost type is in Phasmophobia.

This guide explains how players can unlock, customize, and use ID Cards in Phasmophobia to showcase their progress.
The Wheel Of Fortune
Another one of the most common Tarot Cards in Phasmophobia, The Wheel of Fortune card is pulled with a 20% chance and is the only card in the deck to have two features. The player can lose 25% Sanity or gain 25% Sanity. If the card burns green, then they have gained 25% Sanity. If the card burns red, the player has lost 25% Sanity.
