Winter Wonderland is well underway in Overwatch 2, bringing back popular game modes like Mei’s Snowball Offensive, Yeti Hunt, and Freezethaw Elimination. However, the Mischief & Magic prop hunt minigame has returned, along with three reward tracks. The holiday season is live in Overwatch 2 through January 8, giving gamers just over two weeks to earn as many goodies as they can from the event.

-

- 3 hours: Common Loot Box
- 6 hours: Epic Loot Box
- Once complete, claim rewards from the Twitch Drops inventory
- Loot Boxes will automatically appear in Overwatch 2
-
Log in to Overwatch 2 during the same time period to earn the following holiday rewards:
- Winter Wonderland 2025 Player Icon
- New Year 2026 Player Icon
However, now that the second half of Winter Wonderland is underway, there are some extra free goodies players can get right now. The first and most exciting ones come in the form of new Twitch Drops. By watching up to six hours of any Overwatch 2 streamer on Twitch from now through the end of Winter Wonderland on January 8, fans can collect a free Common and Epic Loot Box. Simply claim the rewards from Twitch after connecting it to Battle.net, and the Loot Boxes will automatically appear in Overwatch 2.
The freebies don’t stop there. Simply logging in at least once during this time period earns players two free holiday-themed Player Icons featuring a Winter Wonderland 2025 snowflake and a New Year 2026 hat. These rewards will automatically be claimed upon login, after which they can be applied in the Customizations pane.
There are even more holiday cosmetics and Loot Boxes up for grabs right now, though they will require a little work in order to get them. Of the three Winter Wonderland rewards tracks available in Overwatch 2 Season 20, the Krampus Junkrat route offers up to 40 additional Loot Boxes players can earn, four of which are Legendary, while the Santa Torbjorn path has 10 wintery cosmetics, including sprays, player icons, and two Legendary Skins: Frozen Demon Junkrat and Frozen Mountaineer Cassidy. Alternatively, fans can get Battle Pass Tier Skips from the Jingle Tracer path instead.
To earn these items, players will need Winter Wonderland Cookies. Three are awarded for each Daily Challenge players complete during the event, but fans can get up to 64 more by doing special Winter Wonderland challenges. A second batch of Winter Wonderland Cookies has just appeared with the event challenge’s refresh, all of which are associated with the new Mischief & Magic Wonderland game mode in Overwatch 2, where Kiriko can fight back with special powers based on her current disguise.
What to Expect From Overwatch 2 in 2026
Loot Boxes are tied to the season they are earned in, and are automatically opened when the season rolls over, so there’s no real reason to save them. That said, at some point in early 2026, fans can expect another update to the Loot Box cosmetics pool. Last time, Overwatch 2 added internal IP crossover skins from WoW and Diablo 4 into the Loot Box pool, so fans might see some fun cosmetics appear in them starting next year.
Speaking of which, Overwatch 2 has some big plans for 2026. At least two new maps are coming to Overwatch 2 in the form of Atlantic Arcology and Tokyo, along with a rework of some maps, including Antarctica. Blizzard has also teased some huge stuff for Overwatch 2 on the horizon, and though much of it is still shrouded in mystery, fans can expect more heroes in both Stadium and the core game. Either way, Season 21 kicks off on February 10, meaning fans can expect the mid-Season 20 update shortly after the new year.
