Where to Get Red Sermon in Diablo 4
While Paladins in Diablo 4 are typically known for carrying a one-handed weapon and shield, they can still wield two-handed weapons to great effect. Red Sermon is a Unique 2H sword that sacrifices survivability for raw damage, turning an otherwise tanky character into a glass cannon that spends their own health for monstrous DPS.
If you’d rather carry a big sword instead of a shield, then Red Sermon with a Paladin Zealot build in Diablo 4 is perfect for you. Here’s how you can get this weapon as well as its Unique effect.

Where to Get Red Sermon in Diablo 4
Red Sermon is one of the easier Uniques to get for Paladins. You can get one from either Varshan near the Tree of Whispers, or Lord Zir inside The Darkened Way in the Fractured Peaks.
The good thing about Red Sermon dropping from these guys is that their summoning materials can both drop during Helltides. The Malignant Hearts you need for Varshan are obtained from completing Tree of Whispers bounties, while Exquisite Blood for Lord Zir drops from Blood Maidens and other Helltide bosses (such as Duriel, who effectively replaced Blood Maidens for Season 11). If you want to get both materials, farm Tree of Whispers bounties in Helltide areas while summoning as many Blood Maidens as possible.
Speaking of Helltides, you can also get Red Sermon from Helltide weapon chests. Also, if you have enough Obols, you can always gamble with Purveyors of Curiosities in the major towns across Sanctuary. Getting Red Sermon from the latter is going to be a longshot, but it’s still worth trying out, especially if you’re already capped on Obols and have nothing better to spend them on.

What Does Red Sermon Do in Diablo 4?
Red Sermon is a Unique weapon designed for Diablo 4 Zealot builds. This enormous sword multiplies the damage dealt by Zeal while also giving it the Death or Glory upgrade for free. The latter makes Zeal 10% of your Maximum Life in exchange for increasing Zeal’s damage and your overall crit chance. Red Sermon’s bonus triggers every time you lose health, and not just when you use Zeal.
Red Sermon’s affixes include:
- +Strength
- +Life on Hit
- +Chance for Zeal to Deal Double Damage
- +Ranks to Zealot skills
Thankfully, Red Sermon also comes with a fairly high Life on Hit stat by default, which is great since healing from Health Potions has been reduced following the big set of Season 11 changes for Diablo 4. Paladins also have a number of self-heal options too, so while you’ll still lose out on all the defenses that a shield would provide by wielding Red Sermon, you’re not completely left wanting for survivability.
