Escape From Tarkov is Being Review-Bombed

By newsgame

One day after its 1.0 and Steam release, Escape From Tarkov is already being review-bombed. However, despite Escape From Tarkov‘s Steam review rating tanking right now, it doesn’t seem to have all that much to do with the quality of the game itself.

Gamers have been waiting for Escape From Tarkov‘s 1.0 release for a long time now. The game first entered early access in 2017, and quickly began to establish what a modern extraction shooter should look like. In the years since, Escape From Tarkov has only been available on the Battlestate Games Launcher, which it feels has always held it back from wider adoption among gamers.

Escape From Tarkov Debuts to ‘Mixed’ Steam Reviews

Escape From Tarkov‘s Steam debut is finally here, and it’s fair to say that it isn’t exactly going perfectly. Gamers are sharing their frustration at the release in the best way they know how: reviews. The game has debuted to “Mixed” reviews on Steam, with just 43% being Positive at the time of writing. This is despite Escape From Tarkov 1.0 making tons of important additions and improvements to the popular extraction shooter.

Escape from Tarkov gets 0.16.7.0 update

Taking a look at the negative reviews, very few are actually discussing the content of the game. Most are focused on Escape From Tarkov‘s launch day server problems, which left most unable to play the game or register for a Battlestate Games account. As of now, it does seem as though the server problems have largely stabilized, so it remains to be seen if Escape From Tarkov‘s Steam reviews will slowly recover from the early struggles.

Escape From Tarkov - Best Extraction Shooters For Beginners

Prior the game’s release, game director Nikita Buyanov mentioned that Escape From Tarkov could be review-bombed, so this may not come as a massive surprise to Battlestate Games. However, the developer mentioned it in the context of existing owners having to repurchase the game in order to play on Steam, whereas these server problems may have been a little more expected. Still, hopefully Escape From Tarkov can continue to improve the experience for players and turn those Steam reviews around, although there’s some way to go yet.
