Diablo 4 Season 11’s Secret Altar Mystery Has Been Solved, and It Comes With Some Must-Have Rewards
One of the biggest mysteries of Diablo 4 Season 11 has finally been solved, and players won’t want to miss out on the rewards it offers. An unannounced part of Diablo 4‘s latest season is the presence of mysterious altars scattered throughout Sanctuary. For a while, it was unknown what these altars did or how they were activated, but the enigma of these altars has slowly unraveled as Season 11 progresses, with a solution now clear.
Season 11 has been a second wind of sorts for Diablo 4, with the hype behind the shadow drop of the new Paladin class for those who pre-purchase the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion breathing new life into its gameplay. Along with this new class, changes to combat and enemy behavior, along with a reworked gear upgrade system, have made the game feel refreshed in a way that past seasons haven’t. Add to this the new Lesser Evil invasions and the mystery surrounding their secret altars, and now is a great time to explore the world of Sanctuary once again.
Diablo 4 Season 11’s Secret Altar Mystery Explained
Around Sanctuary, players have been discovering mysterious altars that seem to correspond to the four Lesser Evils. These altars include:
- Altar of Anguish (Andariel) — Located in Nahantu in the Seven Stones region near Kurast Docks
- Altar of Lies (Belial) — Located in Fractured Peaks, Seat of the Heavens
- Altar of Sin (Azmodan) — Located in Hawezar, Umir Plateau
- Altar of Pain (Duriel) — Located in Caldeum, just outside the southern portion of the city
Each of these altars requires players to offer a Purified Essence of their associated Lesser Evil: a Purified Claw of Andariel, Purified Eye of Belial, Purified Tongue of Azmodan, and a Purified Horn of Duriel, respectively. These items are rare counterparts to their corrupted versions that drop when players defeat one of the Lesser Evils in Diablo 4 Season 11. For a chance at finding one of these purified versions, players may need to farm these bosses for some time before they drop.
How to Complete the Secret Altar Ritual and What it Unlocks
After offering each of these purified items to their associated altars, a portal will be unlocked that transports players to a boss arena. Here, they will have to face a terrifying battle against Uber versions of all four Lesser Evils. The kicker is that players have to fight them all at once, making it a true test of their build’s fortitude. Only the best builds of Diablo 4 Season 11 stand a chance at defeating these bosses, but the rewards for doing so are well worth the struggle.
Potential Rewards for Completing Diablo 4’s Secret Altar Event
One of the first documented instances of Diablo 4 Season 11’s secret altar event being completed comes from Reddit user Special-Level-6142, who made a post detailing the rewards they earned by defeating the four Uber versions of the Lesser Evils. These rewards include:
- 1 Resplendent Spark
- 1 Cosmetic Mount Trophy
- 1 Unique from each boss’s loot table, guaranteed to have at least one Greater Affix
- Corrupted boss materials for each boss
There is also a high chance for these bosses to drop Mythics on Torment 4 difficulty.
An exclusive cosmetic mount trophy is an enticing reward on its own, but players farming for high-quality Ancestral Uniques will want to target this event since they are guaranteed one from each boss’s loot table if they’re successful. The Resplendent Spark is also a highly coveted reward, since it is used to craft Mythics and can only drop from a select few sources. The good news is that this event is repeatable, provided players have the Purified Essences of each boss to activate their altars again, making it a fantastic farming route for players with the strength to overcome four Uber Lesser Evils at once.
