ARC Raiders Players Call for This Fan Concept to Be Added to the Game, And It Could Have Serious PvP Implications

By newsgame

An ARC Raiders player has designed an incredible concept for a Legendary Augment that could have profound implications for PvP, and the community seems to be all for it. Over 9,000 ARC Raiders fans are seemingly in agreement that the concept should be added to the game in a future content update, with many saying they “love” the idea.

The topic of PvP in ARC Raiders is a divisive one. While the game itself is PvPvE, meaning each match has a mixture of AI enemies and real-life players, not everyone believes that blood needs to be shed at every opportunity. For those who might be unaware, ARC Raiders is an extraction shooter, which means players risk losing their gear and items every time they load into a raid. As such, you’ll often encounter wholesome interactions where players will make peace, not war. But not everyone is this way inclined, and despite the game actively incorporating and encouraging PvP, some despise being killed by other players and losing their hard-earned gear. There have often been conversations about a PvE-only mode, but one player has come up with a new idea for a Legendary Augment that would make dying during battle far less of a setback.

arc raiders vs battlefield 6 player count

ARC Raiders Player Count is Down 36.8%, But It’s Still Demolishing Battlefield 6

ARC Raiders experiences a player count drop of 36.8% from its all-time peak near launch, but it’s still way ahead of its competition.

Augments are a vital part of ARC Raiders‘ loadouts, as they alter a player’s carry space, weight capacity, and shield compatibility. As of writing, there are only Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic variants available in-game. The lowest and most basic Augment available comes with a free loadout, offering a slight increase to carry space and capacity, but it offers no safe pocket. There are then Looting, Combat, and Tactical Augments, each of which is available in Uncommon, Rare, and Epic variations. The latter of the bunch has multiple different versions, with each one offering a unique benefit. For example, there is a healing-focused Augment of the Epic Tactical Mk.3, which releases a healing cloud that restores 20 health over 10 seconds when a player is revived from being downed.

ARC Raiders Player Mocks Up Legendary Augment Concept

Given that there are Legendary weapons and items in ARC Raiders, it only seems logical that Embark will, at some point, add a Legendary Augment to the game. The studio hasn’t revealed its future plans for such an item, but one player has taken it upon themselves to mock up an interesting concept that would allow players to keep their main weapon when they die. However, there is a catch, as the secure weapon slot is dedicated to a Legendary weapon, such as the Equalizer, Jupiter, or Aphelion. The idea is that it would make ARC boss fights, such as the Queen or Matriarch, less discouraging. Anybody who has attempted to take on these gigantic ARC enemies knows it isn’t out of the ordinary to be killed by other players and lose high-value gear in the process.

To ensure this concept is well-balanced, the user notes that there would be only one secure slot for a Legendary weapon and no safe pocket, meaning all other loot is at risk. The Augment would essentially be solely for hunting ARC bosses and would be of no use for looting or PvP. “I think something like this could push more players to actually engage with end-game PvE instead of avoiding it because of PvP griefing,” the user said.

Since being posted earlier this week, the idea has accumulated over 9,000 upvotes, with fans absolutely loving the idea and calling for developer Embark Studios to add it into the game. “This is a brilliant idea! Hope someone from Embark sees this,” one user said. Another fan said the idea “should help both sides” as those wanting to participate in PvE get some safety while PvP players “get a more target-rich environment” as PvE players are more likely to bring in good gear.

Although such an idea is unlikely to make its way into the game anytime soon, fans do have new content to look forward to as ARC Raiders‘ highly anticipated Cold Snap update is set to release on December 16. The patch will bring a new Snowfall map condition to the game, covering the likes of Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, and more in snow. Fans can also look forward to a fresh Raider Deck, a new Flickering Flames event, and more.
