Half-Life 3 Announcement Could Happen in a Matter of Weeks
If a new rumor is true, Half-Life 3 may finally become reality, and the official announcement may only be a few short weeks away. All rumors and leaks should be taken with a heavy grain of salt before they’re confirmed, but it’s clear that the hope for Half-Life 3 hasn’t completely flickered out just yet.
The first Half-Life was released back in 1998 by Valve, and it completely revolutionized the first-person shooter. It took the FPS formula and turned it into a thoughtful, story-driven experience, which became a huge influence for many FPS titles that followed. Over the years, Half-Life and its sequel have gained a devoted following, and hopes for a third mainline chapter persist. There may not be any official word from Valve yet, but if new bold claims hold weight, then fans of the series may be in for a surprise.
New Rumor Suggests Half-Life 3 Could Be Announced in Just a Few Weeks
The rumor is currently coming from two sources: GabeFollower and dataminer Tyler McVicker. While these two sources definitely are not official spokespeople for Valve, some of their claims have panned out in the past, with GabeFollower correctly predicting in-development battle arena game Deadlock and McVicker leaking Half-Life: Alyx.
GabeFollower and McVicker’s claims about Half-Life 3 have been making the rounds on the internet, particularly Reddit, as fans are trying to narrow down when such an announcement could arrive. With Half-Life‘s anniversary coming up on November 19, some believe this may be the day Valve reveals the title, while others are suspecting a surprise announcement at this year’s Game Awards, but that remains to be seen. This isn’t the first time GabeFollower has been mentioned when it comes to Half-Life 3, either. Back in August, GabeFollower claimed that Half-Life 3 code had been discovered, reigniting hope for a third mainline chapter.
Right now, all Half-Life fans can do at the moment is sit and wait to see what happens. The theories about November 19 and The Game Awards are intriguing, but it’s important to keep one’s expectations in check. GabeFollower and McVicker may have been correct in the past, but that doesn’t mean their current claims are accurate. With Valve’s recent Steam Machine announcement, following up the news with a Half-Life 3 reveal would be a huge way to close out the year with a bang, but only time will tell. Half-Life 3 has been on a lot of gamers’ wish lists, so hopefully these rumors turn out to be true.
