Baldur’s Gate 3 Dev May Unveil Its Next Game at TGA 2025, and It Was Right In Front of Us the Entire Time

By newsgame

Larian Studios could be revealing its next game at The Game Awards 2025, with the demonic statue in the Mojave Desert seemingly tied to its Divinity IP. No doubt, Larian Studios received a ton of attention when Baldur’s Gate 3 released in 2023, but it’s a storied developer with plenty of works within its own IP. Fans could see more of this soon, which is much sooner than I would have expected.

Fans have known that Larian would not develop any DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3 or press on with Baldur’s Gate 4, with the developer instead choosing to follow its own passions. While this disappointed some fans, it’s good to see a studio work on what it wants to work on, not just what’s guaranteed to sell like hotcakes. Still, Larian returning to Divinity with the resources and know-how that elevated BG3 is exactly what fans need to see.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Have Funny Reaction to 2025 Game Awards Nomination

Baldur’s Gate 3 is nominated for yet another game award, and the developers have an honest and funny response to learning the news.

As reported by MP1st, Larian recently filed some new trademarks related to the IP. Whether this is a new subfranchise, Divinity: Original Sin 3, or somehow a new title in its other Divinity games remains to be seen, but one of the logos associated with it is nearly identical to the demonic statue. Not to mention, a demonic statue is perfectly in line with the Divinity franchise and Larian storytelling, so upon seeing the statue and the symbol, it’s become a strong bet.

There have been two teases alongside this statue: “Regal.inspiring.thickness.” and “The [redacted] are silent. [Redacted] bleeds. Now [redacted] stir.” Truthfully, these are vague enough to be almost anything, but given Divinity‘s lore, the Source, and the overall plot, it makes as much sense as anything else.

The Game Awards Surprises

Every year, Geoff Keighley and crew try to surprise gamers. There are always rumors and leaks, so this should be taken with a grain of salt, but the mysterious TGA statue has to be related to something. It being related to Larian Studios would be the biggest possible surprise, given that Baldur’s Gate 3 is pretty fresh. Fans shouldn’t expect this to be much more than a teaser, though perhaps Larian’s next game will enter Early Access just like Baldur’s Gate 3, but it’s definitely up there in terms of surprises.

All of this should be taken with a grain of salt, but it seems The Game Awards 2025 are shaping up to be truly special. The statue is something at the very least, and the fact that it could be a new game from Larian is about as surprising as it comes. Other rumored games for TGA include a new Star Wars Old Republic game (although it is uncertain whether it’s the KOTOR remake), a possible PC port for Death Stranding 2, Control 2, Silent Hill 1 Remake, AC4: Black Flag Remake, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are also all rumored. Even then, among this list, Larian would probably be the big show-stopper.

If someone has played Baldur’s Gate 3, but not the Divinity: Original Sin games especially, they are an easy recommendation. Everything you love about BG3 is there, if the quality is a little less. A new Divinity game with the quality of Baldur’s Gate 3 is a wildly exciting prospect, one I did not expect to even be teased for a few more years.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if this statue and, as such, Larian was the “one last thing” for the show. Either way, it seems fans are eating good—especially if it proves these trademarks are related to the statue.
